The people DO NOT elect the president. We vote for electorates who then cast their vote for the president and Vice President in-line with how their constituents vote. They are not bound by law (in most states) to actually vote how the people voted. It’s known as an unfaithful electorate and it has happened over 100 times in our history.

Yeah, you're right, but generally electors vote in line with the state's majority. Not trying to split hairs here, beside the point.
