The 22nd amendment was a knee jerk reaction to FDR's 3+ terms and a dumb idea that forever makes the second term of any POTUS a lame duck. Change my mind.
I totally agree. And when a Democrat President is just a puppet for the Collectivist, Socialist agenda, we don't get "President Clinton Term 1 and Term 2, and eventually President Obama, so so different in his ways, Terms 1 and 2," nope, we get fucking "Karl Marx in a different suit, terms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7..."
Clinton did get Term 3. It just took 8 years, and we called it "The Bush Presidency." This is my point. The undermining of America is a trend that has been the policy of every pre-Trump administration for a very long time, even if they do not realize it as they carry it out.
Imagine a system where two people take turns, one builds a wall for an hour, and then one dismantles the wall for an hour. It's easier to break than it is to build, so naturally, the wall will keep getting smaller and smaller. Why did we agree to this system where the time to build is limited to an hour? The guy who's breaking the wall is BREAKING THE WALL, he doesn't care about the wall, he'll break it during our turn, when we're not looking. Why give him any time at all? If we have someone who says "I want to keep building, I'm not tired," for God's sake, let's get out of the way and let him keep building!
What’s to stop the current Supreme Court majority from telling Congress any attempt to politicize the Court by packing it, would be unconstitutional and not recognized? Seems like a legit way to shut this bullshit down for good.
well if the Judiciary Act of 1869 is changed to read a different number of Associate Justices (for example, 10 instead of 8), then it would be the law of the land.
it couldn't be unconstitutional since the Constitution doesn't specify the amount of justices...
Sometime you have to get a replacement to Trump. He would hit 80 if he's on his third term. However, it might be fun to do this just because of the salt. However, if you did not have the 22nd amendment, do you think obama would have lost in 2016 vs Trump?
A literal corpse could do the work of a justice, the POTUS is much more active.
According to wikipedia the average life expectancy for men in the U.S is 76.3 years and I would assume Trump would live longer, but the light that shines twice as bright and all that. I would hope that he would be able to retire and overlook the result of his achievement. I'm not saying he couldn't do 4 more years, I'm saying 8 more years would be pushing it.
And I just think that if we got 6 more years of Donald Trump and then 2 years of President Pence, I'd be much happier with that than "Oh well, my turn is over," and we set the precedent that the Left can spend 8 years tearing the country apart as an obstructionist menace and get its way. If they want to change the rules to literally end this nation, I say we change the rules to literally save it from them.
But it is hard to win against a sitting president. If 2016 was Trump vs Obama, Trump may not have won. The term limit also works as a reset, forcing popular people out.
I'd argue that the 22nd Amendment is unconstitutional anyway. It abridges life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not only of that of the office holder but that of the American public, to install an arbitrary time limitation on a public servant's capacity to serve the public in a singular office under the hospices that someone who is too old or sick can have a disastrous impact on the nation if they die in presidential office (yet somehow everything is fine if a congressman or judge bites it as we've seen in the current administration).
I would so seriously enjoy a chans troll release pushing a repeal of the 22nd. It would be amazing to watch the progs have an absolute meltdown at even the slightest hint of this...
Disagree. Two terms has been the limit that every American president except for FDR followed. It was only codified into the Constitution 70 years ago, precisely so such a thing would never happen again. It's part of our Republic's limits on government power.
I love our president,, but let's face the facts. He's old. Sure, I think that he has the vitality for a second term. But at the end of his second term, he'll be 78 years old. I think that we should be focusing more on finding a successor for the 2024 election.
I've been an advocate for Trump's 3rd term for awhile.
I do not propose repealing the 22nd Amendment. This can bite us in the ass. Our goal is to LIMIT Congress. Not increase.
But....BUT!
WE CAN...Pass a law STRICTLY for only Trump, because, strictly only Trump went through it. :P
Can we pass a law, that extends Trump's 1st or 2nd Term by 4 years, to compensate for the time lost caused by MASSIVE CRIME FAMILIES AGAINST TRUMP? Yes we can I think. :P
Because that's what the Democrats did. They took OUR President Trump's time, and I simply, want him to have it back. Is all!
If two terms was enough for George Washington then it is enough for Trump.
I get why he's saying this but there are better counter examples to make his point.
"Lets expand the number of members in the House of Representatives. You could literally triple the number of Representatives or quintuple it. It has only been fixed since 1911."
Clinton, Bush, and Obama were basically all the same Marxist entity in a different suit, though. Their side gets infinite terms because they just replace with a new puppet.
"But guys, if we use the Government against them, they can use the government against US!" says the Conservative to his friend, as they both kneel at the edge of the trench, as the Government Executioner makes his way down the line to shoot them both in the back of the head.
The Constitution doesn't believe in the power of the Constitution, it believes in the power of the Rule of Law. And the Rule of Law has been weaponized against the citizen whose unalienable, God Given Rights are being trampled. Because that Constitution is being misinterpreted or flat out ignored by Leftists who create lesser, Unconstitutional "laws," to remake the nation in their image.
I'm all for clinging to the Constitution AS WRITTEN, but that is not what is being done anymore. So, until the Constitution is once again enshrined by our elected servants as THEIR RULER, and they continue to try and act as if THEY rule over us, then we must do what is necessary to return America to what is was intended to be by the framers of that Constitution.
Literally all I've heard from dems all night is a choir of "WAAAAAAA!! 😭WWWWAAAAAAA!! 😭😭😭"
The wails of babies throwing absolute tantrums that we dared to not let them get their way for once.
If Trump gets reelected, do you think it would stop? Nope, they'll just do it to the next guy.
Never stop fighting.

Fuck THAT.
Clinton would NOT have won term 3.
Against Asshat W Neocon?
I guess it doesn't matter though since every POTUS between Reagan and GEOTUS was dog shit anyways.
The longer I'm alive, the less I respect Reagan. I voted for him twice and he was my CINC.
Nothing wrong with that. Reagan was far from perfect, especially when compared to Trump.
I still think he was a substantially better president than the 4 shit stains that came after him though.
I refuse to argue with that.

Legislating from the bench.

it couldn't be unconstitutional since the Constitution doesn't specify the amount of justices...
Seems like a pipedream. But if enough people push in that direction it could very well happen.
If nothing else, fun to say to dems.
PRESIDENT FOR LIFE!!
I'd be ok with this. It should only be an acceptable policy if term limits also applied to the judiciary and legislative.*
Sometime you have to get a replacement to Trump. He would hit 80 if he's on his third term. However, it might be fun to do this just because of the salt. However, if you did not have the 22nd amendment, do you think obama would have lost in 2016 vs Trump?
RBG was a fucking passenger on Noah's Ark, Trump is PLENTY young to continue as president.
A literal corpse could do the work of a justice, the POTUS is much more active.

We should talk more about senate and congress term limits instead. Doesn't seem fair between a balance of power perspective.
No
Obama would be running for his fourth term right now
I doubt there will ever be another amendment or repeal. The country is too divided to ever get the required consensus
If senator lahey can be in his position for over 40 years.... Trump deserves atleast another 10
Trump is older than that stupid amendment
Either repeal the 22nd or add to it term limits for both congress and scotus. We don't need 50 year career politicians or diaper wearing justices.
I would so seriously enjoy a chans troll release pushing a repeal of the 22nd. It would be amazing to watch the progs have an absolute meltdown at even the slightest hint of this...
President for life
I think we should go the other way. There should be an amendment that limits SCOTUS to 9 justices.
Repeal22 #Trump24
Check and mate. After all, that Ammendment was written a long time ago by WHITE FUCKING MALES! REE!
We have been robbed of his first term with all the FAKE Russian hoax crap, Trump deserves another term.
Disagree. Two terms has been the limit that every American president except for FDR followed. It was only codified into the Constitution 70 years ago, precisely so such a thing would never happen again. It's part of our Republic's limits on government power.

12 more years!!!
If only he were younger. Honestly would support it.

Term limits for Congress, no term limited for president.
The Supreme Court limit isn’t in the constitution though right?
John Miller 2024
If two terms was enough for George Washington then it is enough for Trump.
I get why he's saying this but there are better counter examples to make his point.
"Lets expand the number of members in the House of Representatives. You could literally triple the number of Representatives or quintuple it. It has only been fixed since 1911."
12 years is a meme. Not gonna happen.
The only question is: What's best for America?
Patriots will never support a 3rd term nor a repeal
Sorry. It's anti-american.
With a population of over 300 million it's unnecessary to cling to a leader and points towards a slippery slope.
Clinton/Bush/Obama all got re-elected via political deception.
Don't put too much faith in democracy.
So you don't believe in the power of the Constitution....
Ok... So fuck off of this site. Bye.
