If we lose the senate because a bunch of ridiculous people just couldn't shut up about Lindsey Graham bad, I'm not going to do much because you have a right to your opinion.

However consider this, If Trump wins the presidency and loses the Senate, it's ultimately a loss because Trump will be impeached and removed from office. If Lindsey Graham loses in South Carolina, a Democrat will win and do not for a second think, oh gee, we'll just replace that Democrat with a Republican in the next election. Senators serve six year terms and are very powerful. In six years, almost every Senator becomes semi permanently entrenched. It is ridiculously difficult to remove an incumbent Senator.

If Graham loses, because a bunch of silly people on our side have been shouting him down and undercutting him anyway they possibly could, we will lose that senate seat for a generation. We already got a few other squishes in the Senate we can't count on such as Lisa Murkowski from Alaska, Susan Collins from Maine and Mitt Romney from Utah. All three of them have voted against the majority of Republicans on crucial down-to-the-wire issues (e.g. Kavanaugh confirmation, ACB nomination, Trump impeachment and removal, etc) and will probably do so again. Lindsey Graham has not voted against us on any crucial issue that came down-to-the-wire. If South Carolina gets handed to a Democrat senator, it will stay with a Democrat Senator for probably 20-40 years. It will put us in the position of fighting down-to-the-wire on every single vote in the senate and we will lose at least half of those votes.

That means we would probably lose any attempt by Dems to pack the court after 2024 or 2030. It means we will lose all district court fights for decades to come. It means we will lose all nomination fights for DOJ, EPA, ODNI, NS, CIA etc.

Is it really worth bashing Lindsey Graham every step of the way if it means losing that much? Is it really worth it to make fun of him and undercut him when he at least votes with us and is trying to walk on the right side of center?

All you anti-Lindsey purists might get your way, but it will be the last time you will ever get your way politically and the Trump train will crash. Is that what you want?
