Why do you think all the rich people want to flee America and hid out in New Zealand? Because they will be the only people with guns there. They have private jets and people they bribe to smuggle guns into their private bunkers no doubt.

Even in shitholes like Commiefornia, you can get your pet goon some training and "card" to carry a gun as a security guard in just a few weeks. Pay them $15 an hour through an agency, and give 'em a cot in one of your mansion's outbuildings.
I am not up on New Zealand laws but I would bet only the military and some police can have guns. I doubt they have such lax private security laws as we do here in the states. That is why I am sure the rich people have private armories to outfit their private security when the shit gets really bad. They will probably import the security personnel too. Trade them a ticket to NZ for them and their family in exchange for security work....kinda like a slave.

I suspect that there's a lot of unintended consequences to worry about when the rich try to spend their way out of the apocalypse.
