Maybe so...but it's there. And let's face it, other people who aren't so sure about this stuff look to rags like Newsweek as if they are gospel. So there's value in having them cover this story.

Interestingly, the Daily Beast also covered this story. And yet, it doesn't appear on their Top 10 stories list. As if the biggest election scandal / October Surprise in decades isn't a top story. They are clearly suppressing it and only covered it for the reason you mention: to cover their ass while giving it minimal attention.

Yes...we just need a few more outlets to start digging, and the question for Ten Percent Joe start to get more urgent.

It was tempting to put the link directly to their site as a little reward. But then I remembered that we don't actually need them.

Still, if you want to visit the actual site and pump up their pageviews as a "reward" for this story, it might send a message that MORE content like this would garner them more readers.
