My GF truly believes that Republicans are the authoritarian choice this election. Her cited example was confirming ACB. Beyond that not anything concrete. Could you all help me compile a list or direct me to examples of Democrats authoritarianism. Me just giving examples isn't enough. I used attacks on constitution, "hate speech", taxes, but I feel coming from me she just doesn't believe it. Thank you. She grew up in Germany (army brat) which can give you some insight as to why she may feel that way.

Have her look up the word then ask her to explain how that definition can be applied to the right. Using their power as they’re allowed to isn’t authoritarian. The sore losers saying they’ll pack the court because they are sore losers is a perfect example of what is.
Good idea, thank you.
Don’t be challenging. Forceful. People don’t generally open up doors to opposing or conflicting ideas or people. The oldest method of getting people to examine flaws on their own terms and not yours is the Socratic method. Please learn it. Doesn’t always help but when you have the time and patience, you’ll walk people right away from convictions or long held beliefs that don’t stand up to rational thought and they’ll think they did it and you were just trying to understand. This hits home as I can be passionate about things I believe in. I feel like I may be too confrontational at times, shutting her off.
There’s a time and place. Pick your battles especially with loved ones. Happy wife happy life. It’s why I was never opposed to masks, Even though there is real data saying it’s bad because people don’t wash them regularly and touch them too often. Setting aside the fact there’s literally no real data on saying they work to limit spread. There’s more important hills to die on.
