Twenty years ago I thought of Libertarians as Republicans who wanted weed legalization. They were strong on Castle Doctrine, 2A, personal liberties, small government.

Libertarians now seen to be largely disaffected liberals who can't stand what the Democratic party has become.

You didn't think it...that was exactly the case. Anyone who does not know this look up Neal Boortz. The self described "Libertarians" now are the typical flavor of communists who come in and change the definition of established terms to further their cult beliefs.

The left has social justice warriors. The right has Libertarians.

Same shit, different spectrum.

Libertarians have come from both left and right leaning backgrounds, so they still have some sympathies to their prior positions. There are also "hard-line" libertarians who view any increase in government as intolerable.

The libertarians which have sympathies with conservatives tend to be okay with Trump. The rest are vocal anti-Trump, usually whipped up by the hard-liners who can't accept some of Trump's policies.

If you're going by r/Libertarian, that place was taken over by disaffected Dems (Yang gang, Tulsi, etc). Real libertarians abandoned it.
