i love the optimism but Covid ain't going away until you can rip the dictatorships away from the governors. as long as they can hold on to their "emergency powers" unchecked, this isn't going to be over. They'll just publish slides of graphs with fake case data and sign a renewal of their own powers and no one in the state can stop them. It's what Murphy has been doing here in NJ all this time
As soon as the election is over, Trump should immediately cut off federal emergency funds for states that are still treating Covid as an emergency. Watch how quickly those states open back up when they stop getting gibs from the federal government.
I personally feel like if that happens, the Governors will just dig in and let the state go completely to hell just to stroke their egos that they're fighting Trump's "injustice"
People call my point of view "blackpill", fine I don't care but I'm a "have to see it to believe it" kind of pede. I don't take "HAPPENINGS!" at any more than face value because they usually fizzle out and do nowhere near the intended damage and don't bear fruit. Like HunterGate - the media isn't talking about it, and the drips are too slow. Is it succeeding in turning enough people away from Joe Biden? maybe a few given the sudden interest on people wanting to change their vote where they can, but we need to see real damage done to the Biden campaign where he loses in epic numbers, even lose in places he should win. I guess the jury is still out on that. What happened to the DOJ going after governors with unconstitutional lockdowns? Great, they got Michigan, but what about the rest? Barr's office should be working overtime to free us right now, AND going hard on HunterGate. Right now...crickets because Barr is too weak and "doesn't want to influence the election"
There's a handful of red states like yours and TX that are seeing the same BS as blue states. I don't see Gov. Abbott of TX as being any different from Newsome, Murphy or wHitler. Abbott is at odds with his own R party and is being sued by them for his "emergency powers" and overuse of those powers. He took out a 295 million dollar contract with a company to do contact tracing all on his own. He is completely compromised. He has been acting like a blue state governor from around July on.
I do appreciate the fact that I can just drive 20-30 minutes to Arnold, St. Charles, or Washington and it's pretty much business as usual. It's sad, some states don't even have that liberty.
MN must have got a fortune from the CARES act. They are giving away tons of free food, or trying to, at least. First the schools were handing out food, student ID required. Then they switched it to no idea required. They were having way too many leftovers and now it is any adult, anyone, can get the free school lunches.
If we have SNAP and we have food shelves, why are we wasting money, hard earned taxpayer money, on this kind of stuff? I am so sick of all the wasteful spending.
My kid gets free breakfast and lunch now. We don't qualify for free or reduced regularly, but what are we gonna do in this situation? Force our money into someone's hand? lol. We definitely don't need it, but as with all things, when it's there and it applies to everyone... it just is what it is. Our kid still eats breakfast at home and I tell him just pick up something that looks like a good snack at the breakfast line.
I see your point, if your kid is there and in school. In Minnesota, I am talking about the districts that are entirely online. The students are working from home. They are not getting very many people to show up for the free food and much of it is going to waste. My nephew is in a daycare program and the school nutrition ended up donating a ton of the lunches to kids in the daycare center. My nephew showed up at home with bags full of milk, fruit, etc. My brother's family makes over $200,000 a year. If the school district has that much food leftover, perhaps they should re-evaluate the program, not just randomly donate to families that do not even need or want it.
I am afraid tha this sounds right..... This whole deal has been a trial run at totalitarianism. And the left is not going to give up their shiny, new, favorite weapon.
Every time someone says “social distancing” I want to scream for the abuse of English. I get that it’s short for “maintaining distance in a social setting” but really? Is that the best we could do? “Proximity Awareness” would have been far better.
Great reply! I am horrieifed that som many decided, en masse, to swallow what they were given by the mass media. This rush to compliance that has been demonstrated by so much of the population has been a revelation to me. I did not at all expect it, so I am at a loss as to how to undo this programming that so many have been subjected to.
Even the jaded part of me doesn't see it going on forever, simply because the reason it's going on now is political, and politics change, along with economy. Likewise, after elections it will be a different story for elected leaders who want to be more sensible. They won't be running right up against an election.
It'll be funny to see them run and hide for states rights if the federal government pushes back. Funny how states rights don't matter till they do. Pick and choose.
I remember when Amy Acton said 100,000 Ohioans probably already have covid, this was in March. If you look at the Ohio dashboard, since then our total case amount is 202,704. What a bunch of assholes these people are, DeWine and the rest. If Amy Action was even right, then what they did was illogical. Imagine, there are already 100,000 cases in Ohio and not a single hospital overran. I wonder when those 100,000 cases accumulated? A few months, a few weeks, days? Then what, authoritarian China then decides to do what they do best to their sick civilians, and the rest of the world decides to follow in their footsteps. THE GOVERNORS AND HEALTH OFFICIALS OF THE USA DECIDED TO FOLLOW AUTHORITARIAN CHINAS LEAD ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS. That is fucking terrifying. Will someone ask DeWine and all like him, why they decided to model the CCP response here on American soil? They all keep playing along too with no end in sight. I want to see real legal ramifications against these people.

Hopefully he will immediately after the election. There are still too many people who believe all this crap.
I'm in the city of St. Louis - it's even worse! At least you can buy a fountain soda now!!!

The thing is health officials all over the world are basically self-installed leaders. No discussion is allowed to be debated or argued against.
Its fucking madness.
