Corporate tyranny, now they're squeezing their competition out through lock downs and centralizing their power.

Corporatocracy. Crony Capitalism gives Capitalism a bad name

26
sfluke8 26 points ago +26 / -0

In true capitalisms you don't have too big to fail, forgivable loans, essential workers. Then again I do believe government needs to not allow 3 companies to own the internet and news media.

20
wehavetogoback 20 points ago +20 / -0

3 companies would probably not own it all if they weren't able to mess with other companies with their lawyers, deep pockets, lobbying and bribes.

Limited Liability doesn't exist in true capitalism either. That's the glue that holds these empires together and keeps them out of jail.

7
Friendly_B 7 points ago +7 / -0

Limited Liability also allows us to build companies from ideas and not have our life destroyed if the idea sucks, so we can walk away and try again later.

5
Isolated_Patriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

It also gives the elites the freedom to destroy other peoples lives then walk away and try again later.

No, the govement stepped in and told you who you could buy from. Literally shutting down other bunessess.

It's kinda worse than the USSR. Pravda was an unabashed soviet propaganda rag, American media tries to hide and lie about the fact that they are propagandist rags.

You think a large portion of the Leftists aren't laughing at the media today? Most of them "get it."

6
Codreanu 6 points ago +6 / -0

But they go along with it because it suits them ? I don't believe your average leftie to be that clever.

Or did you mean to say that they know it's all fake, are just as appalled as we are, but somehow still decide to stick to their guns ?

5
Friendly_B 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think they LIKE it.

Though some just believe it. Or believe IN it. Like a priesthood.

Yeah though I have come to believe that some of them are comfortable about the fakeness because it feeds their ideological goals. And I think the fakeness is PART of their ideological goals. Sometimes conscious, sometimes not conscious, it's all about redefining reality.

arkylady 4 points ago +4 / -0

Political Cults that use political ideals as their base are well known throughout history. Hitler’s Nazi Germany and Stalin’s Communist USSR were classic examples of mind control on a very large scale. On smaller scales white and black supremacists, terrorists, and rebel groups commonly use forms of mind control to recruit and dominate their members.

2
Codreanu 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree, that's certainly true of many of them, though I don't think most leftists are self-aware enough to understand, consciously, that their methods are totalitarian and not care, to revel in the idea even. I think most of them are just doublethinking drones who have so completely internalized the cognitive dissonance they can't see it anymore.

Like you said they just believe the Party's priesthood and never question the narrative. If conservatives have to be thrown in labor camps for the sake of liberty and democracy, they'll buy it and won't think twice about it. They might feel good or relieved about it too - serves those nazis right after all ! - but I wouldn't call that malice per se.

1
RegularAmerican 1 point ago +1 / -0

They aren't clever. My sister and BIL both highly educated idiots who actually believe the Democrats care and the Republicans are evil

3

I don't really know conservatives in real life. I live in a far Leftist city. Half of them are dumb. Half of them "get it." In a fever to destroy America, they will do anything.

2
RegularAmerican 2 points ago +2 / -0

What city portland? Seattle? There are some actual violent Bolshevik type revolutionaries in those places but I think the average Democrat voter isn't that active. They are looking the other way while antifa does their dirty work tho.

3
Friendly_B 3 points ago +3 / -0

I have lived in Seattle and Portland both. Right now I live in Boulder, which is much farther left than either of the first two. Here, they will openly discuss how life will be better when China rules us, how unfair China is treated by America, why the violence happening in cities is wonderful for change, and I have been invited to several occulty things. It's a weirder place than Portland.

4 more years and if that doesn't do it, the West goes under. Things are looking pretty grim. Silver lining is - we get to be the greatest generation in the history of our civilization, or failing that, the last.

3
HumanSomewhere 3 points ago +3 / -0

4 years is not enough. Even with Trump. Trump is the man for the job, maybe the best man for the job, but you do not roll back the damage that has been done, peacefully, in 4 years. This is a big battle but the war is long.

2
Codreanu 2 points ago +2 / -0

True, that's where I was getting at. 4 years ain't much at all to undo a process well over a century in the making. But they'll never allow another Trump to happen moving forward, much less a more reactionary leader. So much depends on whatever momentum we can gain during these 4 measly years.

5
astro_eng 5 points ago +5 / -0

Obama killed it, not looking good at recovering from him tbh.

2
oh_hi_solidarity 2 points ago +2 / -0

The lifespan of an empire - 250 years. They are always undone from within, when their accumulated wealth leads to decadence and moral decay. 10 generations, 7 sequential ages: pioneering, conquest, commerce, affluence, intellect, decadence, decline.

To me the 1960s clearly mark the beginning of the period of decadence for the American empire. Hedonism is praised as the highest value. In stark contrast to the honor and brotherhood valued in the early ages of pioneering and conquest.

In the period of decline, civilizations return to their religious and traditional roots for survival - having dissociated via the period of intellect, and abandoned completely in hedonistic indulgence, they are eventually forced home by the harsh realities of life and survival.

The prodigal civilization will make a welcome return to its roots. It would do well to do this quickly, as the decadence must be cast aside like a section of rotting fruit.

A conservative billionaire needs to buy CNN. Have a mandatory meeting on Monday morning for every employee. Then lock all the doors and emergency exits, and burn the building to the ground in minecraft.

7
anonaustirol 7 points ago +7 / -0

"Many of you have probably wondered why there are wooden doors on offices now. Well..."

3

Needs to be profitable. If a conservative buys it, every conservative needs to subscribe to make it worthwhile.

27
Salacious_B_Trump 27 points ago +27 / -0

Usually in totalitarian countries the lickspittle media propagandizes for the party in power. All forces are aligned against our leader which makes for a weird twist.

16
Isolated_Patriot 16 points ago +16 / -0

Usually the "Party in Power" rises following a coup and a propaganda campaign to convince the population the previous party was evil, then has them all locked up and executed thus securing their power permanently.

They just haven't succeeded yet.

4

3
BeefyBelisarius 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's because there wasn't a peaceful transition of power during the 2017 inauguration. The lickspittle media propagandizes for the deep state, which has been fighting a cold civil war against us and our lawfully elected leaders.

2
HumanSomewhere 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fact is, they got surprised in 2016. Absolutely surprised. And that's why it has been wall-to-wall RESIST from the rioter on the street to the highest halls of government, federal law enforcement, the works. The party in power is the deep state. That was true in 2016, and it's true now. Trump's job, from 2020-2024, is to erode that power.

Socialists switched it up after the USSR collapsed. China went through this in the 2000s.

The use of mega-corporations to control the masses. Where China had to build these companies from the ground up. Tencent being the best example. America already had them ready to go. The only thing they had to do was "teach" a generation about the false hope of socialism.

These young adults would move into those corporations through HR departments. Employing socialists into the marketing department. The Gilette ad being the best example.

The marketing departments would push higher up CEOs and business investors that this is what people want. The decline of the Star Wars IP being the best example of this.

Socialists don't care about the money being lost because money has no value to a socialist.

Its all about the message. The socialist message. A message that is false. That's the real danger of socialism. As socialism can be installed on the belief that the masses want it. When in fact no one will know what is happening until it's too late.

Socialism is all about total and utter control. Its about nothing else.

3
Codreanu 3 points ago +3 / -0

Socialism is just the lie they sell to the masses. The people lording over all those woke media outlets, woke megacorporations, woke NGO's... they only believe in limitless power. Think O'Brien in 1984.

They'll make mindless slaves and consumers of us all and they'll call it freedom and progress and modernity.

3
RussianBot2 3 points ago +3 / -0

everything is kind of strange. it feels like we jumped straight to the end of USSR, it's either everything is so much faster these days and we packed the whole 70 years of USSR into the last decade, Or it will develop in backward direction and we'll arrive to the famines and mass executions sometime 2080th.
