Delete a tweet? No big deal. Fact check a fact? Who cares. Decide what is best for the country? Well that just makes sense. BULLSHIT!!! It is time to hold big tech accountable for their lies and manipulation of the truth. It is not the job of a publisher to be the orators of fact. PLATFORM OR PUBLISHER!!!

How many hearings do they get? Do something about it.
When Zuckerberg said that the FBI warned them ahead of time of a hack and leak situation, and that if a large amount of documents were released that it would be Russia or China disinformation, that was a huge red flag to me.
Exactly.
The FBI works with FB to destroy America by a thousand cuts.
How many times has these jackasses been before a government panel? Saying sorry it was a algorithm or some other line of BS. Maybe they can just give em a parking space near the capitol next to handicap parking.
Its cuz most of the people in Congress are fuckin dinosaurs, so they assume algorithm = no big deal, time to back to my yacht.
The only way Big Tech is held accountable LONG TERM is for more incumbent senators to get replaced with fresh blood that can actually use a phone.
Jack Dorsey is more punchable than Zuck, impressive.
He also has no chin. I think that's at least part of why he's grown a beard. He's probably self-conscious.
I'm waiting for him to wear a full-on burqa next.
Memes are culture. The Left can't meme.
:/
RepubliCANTs expose themselves as out of touch and toothless. That is all that is achieved by the hearings.
Yeah why don't republicans ever do anything? We have the Presidency, and for Trump's first two years we had the House and the Senate. Trump could've repealed 230 ages ago, but better late than never
Because sadly Trump was also saddled with the worst Republican leader ever in Paul Ryan. He held Trump back and wasted precious time
That's a large part of it, yeah
"Why didn't you talk them into it, Joe?"
Frankly it's good for the gander too.
Nice reality show. Criminals don’t ‘go before congress’. They are prosecuted and tried in court. This is a joke.
They should make an example out of at least one of them. Dorsey. Throw him in jail for 6 months.
Execute *
Not convinced
Maybe we can put together a thread of questions we the public want our representatives to ask big tech the next time they come in for a chat and email it to Ted Cruz. At least he tries.
How about we just make each one decide whether they are a publisher or a platform, and are mandated to stick with the rules of their choice, or are shut down?
This would be great
I honestly thought that's how it was SUPPOSED to be and Twatter/Faceberg nodded and smiled at Congress, then just went on with business as usual.
You don't need any more evidence than "hacked materials" or "disinformation" policies or editorialization labeling of Trump's tweets that tech companies are publishers.
That goes for all of them. Talking to these tech CEOs is a total waste of time. They can tell any lie they want and then say they weren't aware when called on it and toss some underling under the bus.
Subpoena all internal policies and emails. That's where you'll find who is directing who to do what.
doesnt matterl antitrust goes after the head. If he wants to avoid troubles fire the woke. Rogan is going to keep his money if spotify ends the deal. Destroy the woke or they will destroy your company
You want to know how you stop all of them. Stop using the stuff. I deleted all my social media 4 years ago and haven’t missed it a beat. This is the only site I hop on and it’s really all I need to get any info.
Yeah honestly T_D's reddit ban is what got me using it less and less
Ditto. And they blocked Zeducation, which is some nice young man talking about hypocrisy in politics and memes. Why ban a newer thread that shares politics and memes and not countless porn threads?
In the same boat. I reluctantly keep a Facebook for family, but only check it once or twice a month. I do not consume Twitter. I go to some video game subs on Reddit. This is pretty much the only forum I participate in.
I also don't carry a phone much of the time these days. I'm getting really sick and tired of defending that choice, people act like I'll die because I don't have a cell phone on me. I have one - they do have their uses, but I don't have any apps installed, and don't give the number to anyone. I have a tablet, but I use it to read books. I sit in front of a computer all day for work, I don't need a phone, too - and when I step away from the computer, it only plays music while I work on my hobbies or work out.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine. We're both older, we were college age in the 80's, and we were talking about how happy we were. What changed?
The internet.
It's time for a commission... the Social Platform Equality Commission. This group would be like the FCC and have jurisdiction over the internet to prevent individuals from censoring other individuals on the internet. It would hold social platforms accountable for their actions and the actions of their employees and levy fines for violations. Furthermore, the person who was censored should also be awarded a portion of the violation.
If one individual can restrict the Rights in the form of censorship of another individual, then the individual doing that restriction is NOT protected. It would make the person doing the censoring accountable as well. Just because you work for a corporation does not protect you from Constitutional violations. If I work for a company and kill somebody else while on the clock, I am still responsible for my actions, not the company. And if the company provided me with the mechanism to do the murdering (ie, they provided weapons, ammo, etc) then the company can share in the blame, but I'm still responsible.
This is a great idea
I rarely.... very rarely think it is a good idea to grow government and the bureaucracy, but when people's Rights are being targeted and denied, then that is exactly when the government should step it... to ensure those Rights for everybody.
I mean, that is a great idea. It will just get preempted by a bunch of democrat activists though and strengthen S.V.s positions.
I would think, no more bureaucracy. Make them a Utility. Implement GDPR style law and access rights to citizens data. Kake it super easy to sue these utilities under those laws. Force them into a model of charging people for the use of their platforms by strengthening advertisement laws to end customers. That is where they make all their money. There was a netflix special that I was able to get a hold of that told about all the crap these "free services" do with you and your data.
So many people would drop it in an instant if they had to pay for it - say, like cable.
Social media is cancer. Full stop, end of story... Period...
Would another free site rise up or would these rules apply to all social platforms from now on as a utility like phone or internet service
I see your point. I suppose thresholds would have to be set. I am for less Gov regulation for sure, except for those that protect our God given and enumerated Constitutional rights.
That being said, I don't think the US has done enough to protect our personal data.
At one point, head cuck Twitter fag said "well, they agree to the terms of service". Which, if you read it, gives away your first and last born essentialy.
If their were laws that shaped terms of sercice to protect personal data and establish restrictions, it would eat into their main source of revenue (advertising) and reduce the influence they have on the general public.
I've live through years without "social media" and saw the emergence of it in the tech industry. We always said, if it's free, you (your data) is the product. Nothing is free.
This is right along the same lines as protecting people's rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...
...by having laws against murder, kidnapping, and theft respectively.
Democrats are following Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals to the dot, they're spreading false information and inciting violence amongst their cult while accusing us of it. It's fucking crazy town.
If Trump loses we're fucked, that's all I'm gonna say
The dedication to Lucifer is fitting, since demons guided Saul's hand in the writing of that book.
Where are they getting this white supremacy from? I just don't see it anywhere. I haven't even seen an event that could be called "white supremacy" on the MSM in a very long time but they talk about it like it is a daily occurrence. Meanwhile straight up racist BLM and antifa are rioting and screaming horrible racist things while killing their own people.
If there was a real white supremacist event, it would be blasted 24/7 on every avenue for information. Since that's isn't happening, it's pretty obvious that there isn't any. But they need a boogie man.
August 2017 and it was a nothing burger.
You answered your own question.
The Democrats solely think that "white supremacy" is only right-wing. They completely turn their heads at democratic white supremacy groups, and for obvious reasons.
As evidenced by Chelsea Handler saying, "I had to REMIND HIM(50 Cent) that he is black, so he CAN'T vote for Trump."
A white woman assuming that she can tell black people what they can and can't do.
Isn't this almost the definition of a white supremacy viewpoint?
Not according to the Left it's not, because they're the true racists
Its also somewhat violating his 15th Amendment.
Democrats are the enemies of America. That is all.
Might as well be time for a big old operation: Every account that you have had banned? Send that information to your Senator as a question for the organization to explain their reasoning for a ban. Give them enough rope to hang these traitorous bastards.
Well that was a complete waste of time.
Cruz got some sound bytes though.
Jack looks f’n homeless.
It's rather shocking to see the democrats defend the censorship and playing partisanship. They see how helpful the censorship is towards their power grabs.
They're actually calling a potential repeal of 230 a "violation of the 1st Amendment and free speech." Like what? If your viewpoints can only survive in an environment where dissenting viewpoints are banned, then maybe you just have shitty viewpoints
Zuck implicated in Hunter leaks...
Come on man
There are almost no living KKK members. Statistically, the number approaches zero. You don’t exactly see KKK riots going on here.
It is blatantly obvious that big tech is colluding with Democrats to control a narrative. Nobody in their right mind can argue that.
Surprisingly I have had people argue it
ANIT-SEMITISM IS NOT WHITE SUPREMACY! IT'S DEMOCRATS SUPPORTING ISLAM!
What I have learned from this (well, reaffirmed)... I do not want to ever be on the receiving end of Ted Cruz who feels people's Rights have been violated. He is a lion!
Zuckerburg: "Reform 230 to allow us to act on content before too many people see it."
Oh shit....
LOL he just admitted to censorship, as if we needed him to admit it to know it existed anyways. REPEAL 230
Particularly maddening is the idea that the laptop should be suppressed because the emails are "hacked content."
If they were hacked without the owners permission, that means the owner is indeed Hunter Biden and it's not Russian disinformation.
"What's your definition of hacked?" (shared without the owner's permission)
"So who does the laptop belong to?"
THIS IS WHY REPUBLICANS LOSE. THEY DON'T ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS.
Someone needed to ask what the difference is in their determination of applying "hacked materials" policy to the laptop versus leaking of trump tax documents.
Cruz alluded to it, but never got him to admit it was because it hurt Biden.
We need to repeal 230 and hold them accountable. Either you're a publisher, or you're a platform, that's it.
either way, something needs to be done about 230 because far-left sites like Twitter and Discord are very clearly abusing it
This is the big reason why we need congressional term limits. We need a government and representatives that can keep up with the technology.
mUh ALGORITHMS!!
Example of bigoted speech: "I think marriage is between a man and a woman."
BANNED.
Discussing marriage under this song was the last comment I ever made on YouTube, International Women's Day 2019. (That wasn't the exact upload, which is now gone; same uploader though. Along with my comment, the one I was replying to disappeared at the same time.) What else did I discuss on YouTube? Rocket science. I don't know if any metadata services remember it, but it was the only Orbiter Spaceflight Simulator tutorial regarding roll-modulated atmospheric entry that I know of. Related? Jack Swigert of Apollo 13 was the first unmarried astronaut (I think that was true with the Soviets included as well.)
"Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina."
BANNED AND JAILED.
Re-elect Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger! (Hell, damn near anyone's better than Newsom!!)
Platforms platform stuff... "Why are you platforming stuff?!!"
Twitter is trying to get us ready for their planned ballot dumping. Huge warning predicting delays in results.
"Cowards without honor deserve no mercy! NO MERCY!!" - Lord Shimura (R-Tsushima, Eric Steinberg, Ghost of Tsushima 2020)
If you follow their thinking to it's logical conclusion, they will eventually start talking internet licenses.
This bitch is smiling inappropriately like Kamala.
And like Peter Strzok, and Hillary, and every other compulsive liar...
I HAVE A CALCULATOR THEREFORE I AM A PROGRAMMER. VOTE THESE FOOLS OUT!!!!
How can they know they're applying their policy consistently to each side of the aisle if they can't identify personal politics? Are they judging the political content of each banned tweet? How are they aware of their 'consistency?'
They will just deny everything, nothing will change..
SHE FUCKING ADMITTED IT!! BIG TECH CENSORS OPINIONS! (Re: bigoted comments)
Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nevada): "We know you remove bigoted comments..."
i know about this stuff heres an old calculator to prove it.
Dorsey says he doesn't even understand the complex AI algorithms himself. Good thing this senator does.
You know, I'm somewhat of a computer programmer myself.
Lol, aka writing basic HTML code in the early 90's.
Fucking calculator show an tell
"My Republican colleagues say you are doing too much censorship, I'm saying you aren't doing enough." - Jacky Rosen (D - Radio Shack)
The issue isn't that they have "no recourse", but that the "appeal process is a sham".
This is just my opinion. I think social media as a whole is a blight on society. There is no more social discourse. We've been forced into echo chambers within echo chambers where viewpoints and opinions are throttled not amplified. The entire concept has pushed everyone involved into an us versus them mentality where civility no longer exists. In the end I can only see this leading to even more violent behavior.
Honestly I think we should just go back to BBS and Old School message boards(not that these were better) and chatrooms.
I have no issue with moderating a platform but when it morphs into silencing or removal of a persons opinions(unpersoning) we enter a slippery slope of sorts. If we are willing to accept this from private corporations then whats to say that we wont accept it from our government.
End of rant.
Sounds like The Social Dilemma on Netflix. Not that I watched the documentary - because fuck Netflix - but the trailer said the same.
Government is a proxy for private corporations. Our country was entirely sold out before social media was even a thing. The two-party system keeps populism in check, and the corporations can buy off however many Dems or Repubs they need in order to get their laws passed.
ASK THESE QUESTIONS IN THIS ORDER:
BOOM! FACEBOOK CAN BE USED TO INFLUENCE AN ELECTION!
They have on going study to see if they can influence the elections by attempting to do so. It’s with university of Chicago. I’m part of the study.
Nice!
I thought they said in the past Russia DID purchase politcal ads?
They did, and apparently Russia was so successful in using Facebook to influence an election through a couple hundred adds that they ran a more successful campaign than Hillary Clinton and got Donald Trump elected. This is a farce.
Is Darth Vader breathing in the background? lol
How did Jack become a tech CEO. Maybe it's just appearances but Jack seems like he doesn't really have much of an idea what is going on. Zuck and Sundar seem clearly technical in their ability.
I was just watching a commentator on Fox (Leslie something?) who said Jack Dorsey looks like he should be selling artisanal bacon marmalade in Austin Texas!!! 😂😂😂 Triple funny because I live in Austin... confirmed... that is accurate
LMAO! I've seen some interesting descriptions here today: Osama Bin Dorksey, Brillo Beard, and Rasputin.
He most likely is living the Hunter Biden lifestyle, so he doesn't have much time to follow the day to day of Twitter.
So probably only slightly more involved in Twitter than Bunter Hidin' was in Burisma...
Jack was one of Twitter's Founders.
