Of all the people I know that voted for Cruz in 2018, probably about half of them weren't voting for Cruz as much as they were voting against Francis. If it's any comfort, the NC ruling isn't as bad as it seems on the surface. The votes still have to be postmarked by Nov 3rd which means that (A), they actually do have to go through USPS and (B), they have to have done so by Nov 3rd.
The PA decision was "okay, we'll look at this but we don't have time to do it before the election so segregate the votes and we'll continue to look at this in more detail" that fight is far from over.
