The biggest lie the media has told the public is that investigative agencies are meant to be independent of the executive branch. This makes no sense. It means that the public has no say in how the bureau is run. A law-abiding president can't publicly oversee and control the process to ensure fairness, but a corrupt president can secretly push agents to do his bidding.
