Do anything in your power to transfer or take their place or even work for another company. TDS managers are a sign of immanent collapse.
A good strategy is to start taking up higher level work through another connection at work if the company is big enough. This shifts you towards transfer or promotion. In the future, it will be more obvious which areas are lacking when the TDS manager destroys their area.
