Kind of. It was more passive aggressive. Twice I have left a shopping cart with about $200 worth of food at the register after the clerk (who was masked up and behind Plexiglas) told me I had to wear a mask.
Kind of a bitch move on my part, but better than being arrested.
For shoplifting? Reason I ask is cause in California theft under $1000 (I'm 95% sure) is not even a felony, and the police often don't even bother responding to such crimes. Not from California though, so correct me if I'm wrong.
Trespassing is what they've been jamming folks up with for not wearing masks. Argue too long about it and they stick you with resisting arrest as well.
Shoplifting under $950 is a misdemeanor and a court summons. Not a bad idea to just roll out with the cart, but even misdemeanors have to be reported under circumstances on an SF-86 or other job-related paperwork.
Yeah, if your gonna just roll out with the cart you need to beat feet before the cops can show up, and find a new place to "shop" for a couple weeks. Preferably one that will let you pay for your items.
