I had occasion to go into my local branch of Bank of America, been a customer there for almost 40 years, back when they were Security Pacific in the 80s.

Security guard in front lobby says “put on a mask”; I said “No, can’t wear a mask” and walk past him. I get in line 6 feet away from the counter – I noticed a customer at the counter already, and he had a mask under his chin with his nose and mouth exposed talking directly to a teller.

Teller tells me to put on a mask; I kept my distance from the counter, and told her I cannot wear a mask. The teller says you need to put on a mask; I said I can’t I have a medical condition that prohibits me from wearing a mask, She held up a box of masks as if she wanted me to take one. I said I cannot wear one, she said go outside and I will get the manager. At this point I was perturbed; an assistant manager came out, Told me to go outside and we were to do business outside. I said how about if I cancel my accounts, I’ve been meaning to switch banks anyways. She said that’s your choice do you want to close them now? Not sure how I would enter my pin if I were standing outside either. I told her a local mandate or company policy does not override ADA.

I stood in the corner of the lobby and I reminded her that guy at the counter isn’t even wearing his mask, it’s under his chin, his nose and mouth are exposed why are you trying to force me to wear a mask?

As that dude was leaving, I asked him why he was wearing a mask, like a sheep? He said he has to for kids soccer, league, so he’s used to it. The assistant manager came over to me and handed me back my ID and check and told me I had to leave for harassing customers.

I went to the next closest branch, I stood in line 6 feet from the teller; they called me up; I told him I can’t wear a mask, I asked “do you want me to walk up to the counter or I can leave?” - the male teller said “Come on up I can help you”. I was in that 2nd branch store for maybe 15 minutes working with their staff on my issue, cashing a USPS money order; I talked to three different people, two tellers and the branch manager, all of them were OK without me wearing a mask. We did socially distance and I stayed behind a plexiglass barrier as much as I could. A male customer asked a teller where the library was, the teller didn’t know. As the customer was walking past me I told him where it was, how to get there, the street name, it’s a dead end, blah blah blah. I guess I wasn’t harassing him.

Bad vs good, I promised the first branch I would find a new bank, I do try to keep my word.

I have a picture of the regional manager’s business card if anybody can think of a logical reason to post it...

^ THIS. Closing my BOA account next month as soon as I get everything lined up. They closed all but two branches in my county and people are having to drive 45-60 miles (I live in a large county) to do in-person banking. They have no drive-thru, are only open from 9-4 and have no Saturday hours. Only two tellers working at any time and lines out the door. Get out while you can. Local credit union is open till 6, has drive thrus, and Saturday hours!!!

There now!

Should have dumped them years ago. The Mob used to have their hooks in them and probably still do. I can’t count how many people I’ve known that had money just disappear out of their accounts and never got it back.

Been meaning to, due to previous anti 2A investing/financing.

Bank of Evil is just that. FiL passed away, so we went about settling everything, including closing out his BoE account. Branch required a death certificate, which is fine, certificate produced and we were assured the account was closed.

Fast forward a little over a month, and my MiL is getting notices that his bank account is overdrawn because it NSF'ed. He apparently had auto debit setup for a few accounts, and, rather than bounce the charges because the account was closed, they "reopened the account and paid the bills as a convenience." MiL had to argue with them to close the account and reverse all of the charges, which they said was done....again.

Fast forward to the next month....you guessed it, auto debit. This time I went in and let them know that this would be the LAST visit, because my next visit was going to be to the local news station with a story about how BoE was shaking down the widow of a recently deceased veteran under the guise of "convenience." No more issues after that one.

TL;DR Fuck BoE

Please go to a community bank. Better customer service. And we are not commies like credit unions.

Sorry new account, tried to add enough detail with Being TL.

I’ll tell you what the branch manager told me when I told them I’d close my accounts due to their hostility for me not being to wear a mask, “maybe were not a good fit”
