Non-pilot here, please explain as if to a young child or an intelligent dog.

TFR - temporary flight restriction set up for the president. Big no-no zone to fly in.

It's dimensions are set by NOTAMS, notices to airmen. Pilots are required to check these before they go fly.

Violating a TFR can get your pilots license suspended, can get you arrested, or in extreme cases, shot down.

We have the best airmen, don't we folks?

The argument is annoying because the word "woman" still has man in it, and women, men. It's just short form for both, it fits for both.

I knew of someone who never even did a runup, and one time, landed in the water near the airport because of it.

Essentially before taking off, look for current notices in areas you'll be flying through. It's like going fishing without checking the weather report. If you don't do it, you're risking problems.

GA uses it for much more than approach plates; TFRs as a prime example!

Non-Pilot, but decent googler;
NOTAM: Notice to Airmen -- is a notice filed with an aviation authority to alert aircraft pilots of potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the safety of the flight.
TFR: Temporary Flight Restriction -- USSS / FAA establish a TFR Area when AirForceOne takes off or lands, esentially if you enter a TFR, You'll be answering to F-16s/F-35s/ BAMFs

Two interceptors. One follows you and is ready to shoot you down. One goes next to you and tries to get you to answer/follow/dip your wings if your radio is out. If you don’t respond, they launch flares in your face, which is impossible to miss. If you don’t respond (or try to somehow evade, etc) you get shot down by the guy in back.

incogneato 9 points ago +9 / -0

Is that what we're seeing in the sky on the video? Flares being dropped? Looks like a very stranger pattern, not like a normal flyover -

8
DinosaurAlert 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yep. Flares are to get the pilots attention.

5
maddog_dad 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yes, flares.

Dude in the Cub is gonna get a real shock then....

txladyvoter 5 points ago +5 / -0

BAMFs? Now I know why Trump references F35 roaring around during some of his rallies.

More Goosebumps!
