My wife and I (early 30's both middle class income earners) left 3 years ago when they raised the state income tax.... again.

That’s fucked

This is not the same “fairtax” proposed 10-15 years ago

Co-opting the term Fair Tax for progressive tax rates is repugnant.

I remember Neal Boortz's Fair Tax. Repealed all existing federal tax code and replaced it with a sales tax. Everyone gets a check monthly to cover the cost of tax up to the poverty level.

I've always worried about the ways the Government could attack savings under a Consumption Tax. It always seemed, like most libertarian ideas, that it doesn't always work in practical use. I favored the Flat Tax idea that Bob Dole ran on.

No - no one gets a check. There is just no sales tax on the amount of necessities up to the minimum required (food shelter etc)

The best tax is no tax. I voted no on this.

Who wouldve thought decades of promising more in pensions while skimming from it would leave them in such debt.

Let’s be clear: New York and California are the next Illinois.

Illinois gave this country Obama, and it took Donald Trump four years to start his presidency battling Illinois style politics.

Did you know the original argument for the 16th Amendment, income tax, was presented on these very terms? Only the top 3% would pay ever pay the tax. None of you will ever have to pay. Yada yada. Now there's a slippery slope.
