I can't understand it from a politically smart perspective. This. In Portland, outside "organizers" came in to give out money and bail. These funds were touted by Kamala Harris.
Then when it polled badly, they tried to shut it down and urged everyone to "Put their energy into electing Joe Biden."
The people who came out the first night, sure. Or lately when some local jogger does suicide by cop in a Democrat run city.
But the folks who come out night after night in Portland to fight police and burn down the courthouse? Part of it is boredom. Part of it is they honestly believe they are fighting against Nazis. Part of it is they listened uncritically to their communist professors and drank the Kool Aide. Part of it is they are off their meds.
