That's not the Fibonacci series. The Fibonacci series is a sequence of numbers where you basically add the number before it to get the next one. I.e. 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,etc.

The rice and chessboard is an example of exponential growth.

The Fibonacci is very close to exponential tho'

Fn ≈ ϕ^n / √5 (Binet's formula )
