Seriously, if I knew nothing about American history except what I've been taught the past few months, I'd assume 99% of American history was slavery, bigotry, and witch hunts. For instance, so far I've taken an Honors History class for 9 weeks, and 8 of them talked about either evil whites killing natives, the Salem witch trials, and slavery. We spent ONE week on the War of Independence and all the teacher had to say was that the British were the good guys and the revolutionaries were motivated by irrational fear of Britain and conspiracy theories. Even in my Literature classes, we've talked about nothing but sexism and racism. No wonder my generation is miserable and hates this country. They've been taught nothing but this bs their entire lives.
I understand not everyone has the time or desire to homeschool their kids. But, if there are any parental pedes out there, please at least look into it. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but now I am very grateful my parents didn't subject me to the public school system.
Here, I'll give you all some of my favorite quotes from my professors to ponder.
"Nothing is more fragile than masculinity."
"Feminism is something every man should get behind."
"He was bullied for being brown. Isn't that the American experience?"
"The British had every right to tax the colonies!"
"The revolutionaries were mostly motivated by this irrational, conspiratorial fear of British tyranny."
"So next Friday we are gonna talk about whiteness."
Wow, amazing to see what has happened to k-12 school curriculum.
