Yeah that makes sense since “I’ll take you out to the woodshed” Is a euphemism for “I’ll beat your ass” here in the states, but like you said context matters. No one thinks (or even could think without a severely broken though process) that when the president says “we are rounding the corner” on the corona virus that it is a call to kill people.

We do say "Ich bring dich um die Ecke" = I kill you. But just "um die Ecke" = "around the corner" is not enough because context matters in this case.
