Some could argue 4 too late. The moment they punished the Trump campaign for using Facebook analytics (Cambridge analytica) the exact same way Clinton had used Google analytics, that was the DNC /BIG TECH/ media going to war agaisnt us.

The day Trump won in 2016 I said he needed to end U.S. sanctioned propaganda against its own citizens and here we are, neck deep in swamp propaganda.

Repealing 230 would help Big Tech take out the small competition through lawsuits.

Break them up is the best solution. They became monopolies in part from buying up the competition to increase their power.

As a contrast, Apple never purchased any large competitor or player -- they just innovated.

Clarifying 230 is the best way.

Go for it Mr. Trump.

I will be very disappointed in you, Mr. Trump (and Congress, because I know the President have limited ability), if you don't do something after November 3rd. At this point, COMPLETELY REPEAL section 230 if you have to, in order to force Congress to put something new into its place.

To answer your question, action by the US Legislature, signed by the President.

There's no need to repeal it.

Remove FB and twitter from being classified as common carriers and change them to publishers. They'll either change or fall over. Either way, rest of the industry will fall in line.

230 was designed to bring the forerunners of big tech into line with the telephone companies. The telco's are not legally responsible if someone plans a murder or other crime using the phone.

Newspapers, etc. are publishers. If they call Biden a pedo...wait, bad example.... If they make false statements about someone and cause harm, they are liable for damages.

Big Tech is hiding behind the telephone system standards, while behaving more like the editorial page gatekeeper of a newspaper. They claim it is to avoid publishing slanderous content, but under 230, they are exempt from this.

They should be reclassified as a publisher and lose 230 protection. Then, they'll be open to lawsuits by anyone after this. This leaves 230 protection in place for anyone who doesn't want to be an jerk.

I don't understand this. If they where censoring people based on color rather than political belief's we would say it was discrimination. I don't want big tech to censor better I want them to stop discriminating. I don't get how repealing 230 solves this. It seems like they will just censor everything if they are worried about getting sued and why would they stop the discrimination. Repealing 230 just gets them sued more but msm doesn't have 230 and they discriminate at will. This is very serious and we need legislation that protects citizens and punishes big tech for blatant discrimination not just open them up for lawsuits. We need allot of new legislation I only hope that our good Republican law makers are prepared this time.
