I mean Lincoln was racist AF and tried to send all the freed slaves back to Africa.

The real problem with the schools in this country is the revisionist history. Lincoln did not fight the South over slavery, he said so himself on several occasions. Lincoln fought the South over secession from the Union, he only freed the slaves when he desperately needed a moral crusade to keep the fighting spirit alive because by that time most people in the North were of the mindset that they should just let the South go.

Lincoln was one of, if not the most, Constitutionally destructive Presidents of all time. He literally threw the Declaration of Independence out the window, because if those words meant what that document says, then it would be the God given right of the South to secede.

If people question what you are saying, I invite them to read Lincolns first inaugural address, his interview with the New York Tribune to explain why they are going to war, Jefferson Davis inaugural address and Lincolns war proclamation. Civil war was fought for taxes.

Lincoln was a leader in a group called the American Colonization Society that believed colored people need to go back to Africa because they believed people of color were a pollutant in society. He even supported the first 13th amendment that made slavery a right and said so in his first inaugural address that is was waiting to be ratified by the states. So if slavery was about to become a right how can you fight a war over it?

"I understand a proposed amendment to the Constitution . . . has passed Congress, to the effect that the Federal Government shall never interfere with the domestic institutions of the States, including that of persons held to service. I have no objection to its being made express and irrevocable."

In his last statement on the subject before he died, he suggested extending the vote to “Negros” that were “very intelligent” and ones that served as soldiers but not all “Negros”. Today we call those Jim Crow laws.

Lincoln said: “It is also unsatisfactory to some that the elective franchise is not given to the colored man. I would myself prefer that it were now conferred on the very intelligent, and on those who serve our cause as soldiers. “

In Lincolns war proclamation on April 19th, 1861 he said: “Whereas an insurrection against the Government of the United States has broken out and the laws of the United States for the collection of the revenue cannot be effectually executed therein: Now, therefore, I have further deemed it advisable to set on foot a blockade of the ports within the States aforesaid.” Nope not slavery, taxes again

On March 4th 1861 Lincolns inaugural address he said:

“I declare that I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." Not slavery again.

“In doing this there needs to be no bloodshed or violence; and there shall be none, unless it be forced upon the national authority. The power confided to me will be used to hold, occupy, and possess the property and places belonging to the government (4 Federal tax collection forts), and to collect the duties and imposts (import tax); but beyond what may be necessary for these objects, there will be no invasion, no using of force against or among the people anywhere.”

No mention of Slavery at all in the Jefferson Davis Inaugural address but free trade is mentioned?
