This is not exactly correct. the old Jewish law wasn't twisted or perverted...it was what a perfect God required of man to be with Him i.e. perfection. And then, because no one was perfect it required sacrifice after sacrifice to pay for their sins thus an imperfect sacrifice. The giving of this law was to show man that on their own due to their depravity they could never fulfill it Individually or as a nation and therefore there was nothing that man could do to be with God. Thus why God sends Jesus to live out the entire Jewish law (thus fulfilling it) and slain as a sacrifice in our place to pay for our sins. So its not that the old law is no longer in place (and Jesus most certainly presented new ways of thinking about the old laws), its just that we dont have to worry that if we break it we will be unable to be with God because Jesus has lived the perfect life that we couldnt and paid the price in our place so that if we acknowledge that and accept him as our savior we can be with God despite us being law breakers.

Amen. Unfortunately we have an epidemic of Churchianity in America who don’t understand this very real connection between the old and new testaments and that the Old Testament isn’t abolished at all but that it foreshadows Jesus (Yeshua). It’s a serious lack of Biblical understanding from people who don’t read their Bibles. Also secular humanism creeping into the churches.
