I'm so freaking proud right now you guys. 21 years ago, I was a 19-year-old kid with a baby. I did my best to raise her, through lots of obstacles, IN THE SEATTLE AREA NO LESS...

She turned out conservative and married her conservative high school sweetheart! I've been beating around the bush with her about voting for a few months; she wasn't much of a Trump fan in 2016 so I felt super unsure. She knows her stepdad and I support Trump, but had never specifically said she'd be voting for him. Today I came straight out and asked if she and her husband voted Trump. They're both 21 so it's their first presidential vote.

She replied, "Of course! Who else would we vote for?"

YESSSSSSSS!!!!

My son voted with me for Trump in 2016 when he was 18. He voted again today making me the proud Papa of a two time Trump voter.

Yeah, I have tried to educate him over the years. I always explained to him that most people learn as a Democrat but earn as a Republican. Luckily I got him to jump over the Democrat part and go straight to the Republican part.

That's great. I am happy to say I never voted Democrat, either! I remember going to the polls for my first time with my mom, back in 2000. She voted Republican so I was like "Meh, okay." Later on I got much more politically involved but I owe that first vote to Mom's example! Sad to say she isn't on the Trump train, as much as I try!

Yes it does. My firstborn also can vote now, and he's Trump all the way. So is the younger kid, but he can't vote yet.

Awesome. My 19 yr-old daughter has had a giant Trump flag hanging on her wall since 2016 and is pumped about voting for him on the 3rd. We are going together, gonna melt my heart.

Great news.

On the opposite end of the parenting spectrum, we have the Bidens.

LOL. Yes. Well, I am sad to say, my next-oldest child (just turned 18) said she was going to vote Biden. But GUESS WHAT... she slacked out on registering!! cue Nelson from the Simpsons "Ha ha!" :)

A lot of my wife’s co workers are younger here in FL and she said they always talk about telling their parents they’re voting for POTUS but really voting straight crazy liberal. If you’re an open Trump fan to your kids don’t be surprised if they just tell you theyre voting the way you would.

I did consider that, but I don't think that's what's going on. She's always been very conservative. I know she voted for the Republican governor, even in the primaries. We actually voted for two different Republican governors in the primaries.

she slacked out on registering!!

...Definitely sounds like a Democrat.

As a fellow Washington Pede, may I say congratulations on raising her right. You should be proud. It’s a constant battle in this state to make sure the kids aren’t getting indoctrinated. Especially in the Seattle area.

TOTALLY. We moved over to the East side in 2018 to give hope to the younger ones... left behind everyone we knew, decades of memories... cashed in the 401K and came out here jobless on a wing and a prayer. That's how much we hated the political atmosphere.

My oldest is just naturally immune to BS though ;)

Thank the Lord above you didn't abort. God bless you and your beautiful family.

Thank you so much. That brings a lump to my throat. I use her story often when I'm arguing against pro-choicers. I say that if I could do it, a 19-year-old high school dropout pothead who was renting a room in a crap apartment complex at the time... anyone can do it.

People like you are a miracle and one in a million. Folk like you are what Makes America Great. Don't ever forget that.

Your daughter was very lucky to have a parent such as yourself. All those hard times and trials you had was worth it. I know growing up so young with a kid must have been so hard, like you were missing out or it was a burden or something else others say. It all worked out and dare I say, was worth it wasn't it?

Certainly better than living with guilt that would haunt you til death like pro-choicers.

I've been through scares like that but I've always told myself since learning the truth of abortion that I would never abort my child. Your story touched my heart and reaffirmed that belief.

I'm sure one day your daughter will realize how strong and resilient you were in carrying her to term and raising her yourself and will thank you from the bottom of her heart.

One day the reason for living is made clear and it all makes sense through God. I used to go through horrible pain growing up and used to damn my life and God and was an atheist and all of that nonsense. But I was just hurt and hated everything including myself for not adapting to life like others could so easily, seemingly effortlessly. But it was through years of contemplation and talking to friends that made me find God again. Knowing the truth of COVID-19 and masks and our crossroads with the election made that feeling resonate.

I can only pray that you and your daughter will find such solace in God. God bless you.

Yeah, the hardest part of raising her was the relationship w/her bio father. He was in the picture for the first eight years but was an addict, a cheater, and very emotionally abusive. Which could be another reason pro-choicers would say to abort. But I knew from the time of the pregnancy test that there was a little person in there. I remember going and eating at a restaurant alone because I wanted to feed her healthfully... all I had at my apartment was Top Ramen and mac and cheese, lol... I hadn't gotten cooking under my belt yet.

Thankfully I am now married to a man who is night and day different.

Thanks for all you said about God. Faith is a struggle for me. I'm a natural-born skeptic and analyzer; and I swing back and forth from belief to sort-of belief to finding it very difficult to believe. But I can never quite get rid of it completely. And like this election is helping you to believe, I felt the same about the 2016 election. And also weird shit like this... a stranger on the internet opening up and talking faith like you are. There's always too much stuff like that to just think there isn't a plan and a reason. :)

Did your kid go through indoctrination school (college)?

2
OregonTrailGen79 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

She's in her third year. She falls for NONE of it. She texts me and talks shit about her professors. She's a lot like me. In spite of living in the Seattle area, I'd walk around in my MAGA hat or my Women for Trump shirt just to piss people off.
