Took me a minute to figure out what I was looking at...then it hit me. ACTUAL JOURNALISM!

191
dontUseVinegerAsLube [S] 191 points ago +192 / -1

Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Aaron Mate are a few honest leftist journalists still left. Unfortunately, all of them now get called russian agents.....

71
Tx50bmg 71 points ago +71 / -0

Matt is good too, same caveat about his views but I’m glad he’s on substack now because fuck Rolling Stone! Aaron Mate sounds familiar, I’ll have to keep an eye out for his stuff.

73
dontUseVinegerAsLube [S] 73 points ago +73 / -0

All 3 had been calling out the Russiagate nonsense from the beginning.

35
SameCookiePseudonym 35 points ago +35 / -0

I've got posts on reddit going back nearly a year where I constantly brought up these three journalists as the few remaining with integrity. I think the best description might be contrarian, which is generally how I tend to be and why I find myself aligning with them. It's nice to see some beacons of sanity.

16
unclebobinator 16 points ago +17 / -1

Before Trump they were generally well respected among most liberals as well.

Then Trump came along and suddenly, like Trump, Assange, and even Snowden, they're grifters and/or Russian agents.

Leftism is a mental disorder and TDS can be terminal. It's crazy how far these people will go to avoid and mask the truth because they simply don't want it to be true.

Frightening to me.

Aaron Mate shows up on Jimmy Dore a lot. Jimmy hates Trump and you won’t agree with much of what he says, but he absolutely despises what the media has been doing for 4 years. Hearing him denounce media lies is great to hear. Since he’s not “one of us”.

24
dontUseVinegerAsLube [S] 24 points ago +24 / -0

Yup! I think the problem with Jimmy is that he's sitting in his own echo chamber in CA and doesn't realize there's people outside that shithole who like Trump. I hate how whenever democrats do evil shit, Jimmy compares them to right wing and Trump. Like bitch, Trump and his constituents are exact opposite.

19
Orwellthatendswell 19 points ago +19 / -0

Agreed.

Jimmy's still completely tribal - he's just realised his tribe's leadership is composed of evil liars.

That doesn't preclude him still identifying with the tribe at large, and believing their propaganda about the other side. He just no longer believes their lies about themselves.

He's a classic case of being purple-pilled. No real understanding of the world outside the Hollywood bubble, other than a guilty, vaguely anthropological understanding of the working class.

15
dontUseVinegerAsLube [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

Yep. He keeps comparing war mongers to Trump just because Trump spent a lot of money on military. He doesn't realize that Trump simply believes in a strong military and still staying out of wars because US is responsible for defending so many other countries plus Trump got the NATO to pay $130 billion more going up to 400 billion more. So a lot of that military spending is offset.

winochamp 10 points ago +10 / -0

I don’t really have an issue with people who just believe in the faux “merits” of socialism, as Jimmy does. I may disagree vehemently with him, but you can have a productive, honest debate with someone like that. Today’s left are not honest actors, they are radicalized violent marxists, hellbent in pushing an ideological fascist plague on society. The sad thing is most of these people can’t even articulate or defend their positions, and prefer censorship and violence to conversation and debate.

Jimmy hates those scumbags too.

1
ShakeNBake 1 point ago +1 / -0

Jimmy and Stef at least want to and is willing to share dialogue with Trump supporters. He has also at least publicly stated that Biden is much worse than our president. Not really a win, but I'll at least take it I guess.

4
GinoOdjick2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

I watch Jimmy too. Who will he support now that he was betrayed by Bernie who is clearly controlled opposition? I'm guessing Tulsi.

The irony of progressives is they hate Trump less than liberals even though progressive candidates would try for real change and Biden would just work for the highest bidder and corporations trying to crush small business and seniors.

This was always Trump vs. the massive, massive egos of liberals. The greater the ego the greater the need to bash Trump to show their "enlightenment." Biden is everything they say they hate about Trump: boastful, thin skinned, inarticulate (much more so than Trump), divisive etc. and they can't see it because this is 100% about feelings not facts.

Taibbi’s eXile was one of the best newspapers ever printed in Russia. Other Moscow journos were hating it, one American journo girl even threatened a gangland hit on the authors.

https://www.amazon.com/Exile-Sex-Drugs-Libel-Russia/dp/0802136524 See review by K.M.Sherrod (currently the 1st one):

most of the worst villains in the eXile's hall of shame are Americans, and it is a theme throughout the book that once Americans are in any way freed from the usual constraints on their behavior, they are the most corrupt, scaly lizard-beasts one can find anywhere. Even an ordinary suburbanite, once she lands in Russia, winds up threatening gangland hits on the authors [...].

And it could happen here, if we ever cease to keep an eye on each other, on our elected officials, and on our press. For, as Taibbi notes with dismay, ... today's "reporters," at least in the western press in Moscow, have become "a bunch of corrupt, cheerleading patsies," largely because there is no longer any competition between papers, magazines, networks, what have you, and thus there's no one paying attention to the accuracy, fairness, or relevance of what is coming out of those Moscow bureaus - and thus no reason for western journalists in Moscow to work very hard at all.

3
deleted 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yawnz13 0 points ago +2 / -2

I'm not surprised that most of the people featured in the book are Americans. The local press and authorities wine and dine"big important American journalist" because they believe it will get them more access to American investment. On the flip side, the journalist now believes themselves to be somebody important in a land where important people can do about anything they want.

That was a great episode for those who time in and think Jones is a total nutjob. Jones has a ton of knowledge and he rattles it off so nonchalantly that he sounds crazy.

Having the live fact checking actually really helps get the knowledge out because it makes people realize Jones isn't the caricature that some soundbites show.

15
dontUseVinegerAsLube [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

I found it annoying too and interrupting Alex's flow. HOWEVER, I think it ended up being a good thing because everything they fact checked came out to be correct. Joe posted on his IG afterwards with a very good defence of AJ and stated that despite AJ saying crazy things - those crazy things are correct!

I agree. It would be one thing if Rogan was getting wasted too, but it’s “Sober October”. Kind of disrespectful to get blitzed in his studio while he is trying to do a show. Would’ve been much better on election night to party like Joe was talking about. I think Jones needs to tone it down his next appearance otherwise he probably won’t get invited back for a while.

12
leahcim 12 points ago +12 / -0

I know it may sound weird, but I think Alex Jones is actually a pretty shy guy. I know most people would think no way someone like Alex Jones is shy, but I believe he is. Proof? I act like he does and I'm actually very shy. Its all a front, and him drinking was a distraction/front for himself to get through it.

At the end of the interview he talks about how his job is killing him and he wish he could give it all up but he has staff to take care of and he feels like he just can't stop fighting. It felt really real and genuine and frankly as time goes on my respect for AJ continues to grow. He's one of the few dissenting voices out there and he got wiped off of the social media earth. In a blink of an eye. AJ is a canary in the coal mine to show whats going to happen to all of us some day if we can't somehow stop it.

Yeah I agree he was a bit obnoxious, but frankly he felt toned down a bit on average over his normal self.

I think Joe genuinely likes Alex, the fact checking... I dunno if he was doing it cause of Spotify or what, but its possible he was doing it to prove to people that Alex isn't a nutjob. He probably gets a lot of shit for liking Alex and I think he was less trying to prove Alex wrong, but more show his naysayers that Alex is often right.

8
RiffFantastic 8 points ago +8 / -0

I think there is a lot of truth to what you are saying. I think Rogan did the fact checking to try and please everybody. That way he can tell the soy boy beta cucks he went hard against Alex while sucking up to MAGA country as being the host with balls to have Alex on his show. It’s a very interesting relationship for sure.

9
Snoozebum 9 points ago +9 / -0

Funny, I thought the fact checking was brilliant.

Can you think of a better way to get red pills out to people who are completely out of the loop?

1
247MAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah alex said on his show after that he was fine with Joe doing that.

My problem w alex is that he exaggerates too much. Yes he's technically correct but it muddies the point. Like him saying tons of ppl are dying who took the experimental covid vaccines. No, its just 1 person so far and he was in the control group (took a meningitis vaccine) so ppl more likely to dismiss what he says because he's imprecise with his words. However I believe him mainly because he is right about practically everything in the long run. I fully expect more ppl to die or be seriously sickened by the covid vax so I expect he'll be proven right

6
GoForMaga 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'd love for both to cut loose, but the fact checking is very important to get through to the normies watching. They can't handle unfiltered Alex - it just wouldn't be effective. Election night though, Jones is supposed to be back on and both getting hammered. Will see...

9
N7fury 9 points ago +9 / -0

I have to give Joe a hat tip because he featured three potentially red pilling podcasts on the week before the election. He had on Kanye/ fucking Alex Jones & Dillon / Greenwald. I get that some of these guys aren't MAGA but they're anti-corruption and very against the Soviet style censorship going on. I thought it was interesting he did that.

3
YoLLamaIsSoFat 3 points ago +3 / -0

Trump is not pardoning Assange. He tried to get him extradited to face charges in the US, allegedly offering immunity in exchange for giving up his sources for the Hillary emails to prove it wasn't Russian hacking, and directed Ric Grenell to try to hide through Aaron Schwartz it before a court case a few months ago.

Cassandra Fairbanks has the call from Aaron Schwartz recorded and uploaded it after entering it into evidence in that same case.

https://youtu.be/Lj0C0rqSZVw

2
lerm4comptroller 2 points ago +2 / -0

When did that change?

Back when he was with the Guardian and first working with Snowden, he devoted a significant amount of column space to trashing Assange for doing things "the wrong way." He believed at the time that just releasing the damn files was bad, and that they should instead be combed through by the amazing gatekeepers of our wonderful media so as not to endanger national security.

This was his excuse for never releasing the vast majority of the Snowden info, btw. So his reasoning on this change of heart is sorta important.

(This is the 30th thing he's desperately needed to explain that he probably never will. Like his propensity to call everyone "cheerleaders for the Iraq War" without mentioning that he was a vocal and public supporter for the first few years. Or whatever his stance is on gun control today, and yes it changes that wildly that often. Or firing Matt Taibbi and hiring Talcum X.)

2
MrSnappy 2 points ago +2 / -0

the change...my guess would be.....that when Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's administrationn charged him with conspiracy for critical reporting on the Brazilian government., he found himself personally in a very similar situation as Assange. His evolution from initial contact with "Cincinnatus," regarding Snowden was a long cautious climb. I am no expert into the mind of Greenwald but i'd speculate that he got there by some evolution of thought and personal experience of the lash and that sealed the deal.I think he is a very cautious individual.

I don't think he ever wanted to be where he is now, in regards to "Intercept" but he is. Few of us have the guts of Assange and Snowden...or John Pilger...or Christopher Hitchens but the last man "in" is "still :in".

These questions aren't leading, unfair, softballs, nothing like that. Legitimate, truth-seeking questions.

Curious to know if Biden responded with "You're a conspiracy theorist so those questions are right up your alley." Or, "You're a lying dog-faced pony soldier."

2
MuadDon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Clearly if their campaign refuses to address these questions and say “no” because it’s the truth, then it’s dead on. This would all go away if it were false and they fought to prove it. And that’s before you even inspect the evidence.

I always thought it was funny how Joe would say "I've never taken money from a foreign entity." Of course, this is a thinly veiled dodge of the real question, which should be "Joe, have you ever received funds from Hunter, his business partners, or from any of the business entities with which he is affiliated?" Weird how that follow up question never gets asked...

4
MAGAftwftp 4 points ago +4 / -0

3
540k-Again 3 points ago +3 / -0

7. ... "Has the Vice President ever received money from Hunter in the past decade ..."

Why only the past decade and not the full 12 years, or why not his whole public life? and why not say Joe Biden rather than "the Vice President"? Why only from Hunter, and not ask about other family members too or others?

2
MrBlack 2 points ago +2 / -0

Any journalist who interacts with Biden now has no integrity, the most hard hitting question they'll ask him is what he has for breakfast.

2
SameCookiePseudonym 2 points ago +2 / -0

When I first saw this, I passed it off, thinking Biden's campaign would just ignore it. But now the Greenwald sub-story has become a huge story itself. In a sane world, it would be hard for Biden's campaign to ignore these questions.
