"Oh my God that's like horrible and stuff, but I'm still voting for him cause he's not, like, literally Hitler."

I love it when young college students speak with the confidence and brevity of someone that has mastered and gathered the sum total of human knowledge, and placed it behind all of their opinions.

“Trump is so clearly racist and we’re going in the wrong direction. Biden is the lesser of two evils.”

“Here is ample evidence that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.”

“I’m still committed to my preexisting beliefs and will not reconsider them despite their premises having been shaken and disproven. I mean, I don’t want people to think I was wrong. Everybody around me looks up to me and holds what I say as gospel!”

I can’t take people that young that speak with that much certainty about anything complicated seriously.

It's basic psychology. You can't just flip the switch on people. It's a process and you have to bring their walls down slowly.

I’m more referring to how young people are a living example of the Dunning-Kruger Effect. May they live long enough to want to smack their younger selves upside the head.

Man back in my college days I would argue about anything with anyone, still do even if someone agrees with my opinion I'll argue against it just so I can dissect it. It can be rather confusing but it works, I've argued in front of others that were around who never jumped in but weeks later they come up to me and thank me and have a big reveal that they think like me because they over heard me making my arguments by the bon fire that weekend.

There is a breaking point when all they hear Trump is racist, racist and racist as the counterargument for everything when they realize hey he isn't racist everything is questioned. Kind of like how you hear weed is so bad your whole life you try weed for the first time and think hey this isn't so bad I wonder what else they lied about and start trying drugs till you end up doing harder stuff and realize holy shit drugs are bad.

The biggest redpill that I've noticed works best and has the most open reaction is this:

"Did you know Lincoln was a Republican?"

(99.9% disbelief)

"Go ahead...Google it."

People are visibly shaken when they learn this. It's like you punched them in the mouth.

They might come back a few days later with "muh switched sides", but that shit is easily shot down:

"So the Party Of Slavery(Dems) tells you the Republicans are the 'real racists' and you believe them?"

That’s one benefit of mandatory military service. I’d be totally fine requiring that of everyone of a certain age, or becoming a citizen. Don’t do it? Can’t vote.

It's not just young people. I know plenty of 50+ boomer farts who are casebook examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

I distinctly remember shooting the shit with my retired neighbor while on a walk. He kept freaking out because we were hours away from going to war with Syria because Trump had just bombed it. I had to physically restrain myself from just straight up telling the guy to calm his man-titties using exact phrasing.

I don't remember who or when but a long time ago I learned to be proud to be wrong. Maybe proud isn't the best choice of wording, but use it as an opportunity to gain more knowledge and think more critically about the situation.

Question everything, don't wear your opinions like military rewards and medals. Don't take it personally if someone differs, refutes or, God forbid, disagrees with you.

There's no true benefit to being married to a specific opinion or belief. Doubly so if you haven't even done research or know much about a certain opinion. This doesn't mean I don't have certain strong convictions, more like if they are challenged I'm open enough to take that challenge to properly and intelligently refute it, or if not possible then independently go and learn more about the subject.

And if someone corrects me or tells me I'm uninformed I don't automatically accept their opinion either. I take it into consideration, and after doing research on my own with proper evaluation then I will be open to abandoning my former position.

If it wasn't for this particular mindset I'd have voted for Hillary, and would be voting for Biden.

Unfortunately, unlike years past, all of these fools have been sent a ballot to their mailbox, making it far too easy for them to vote foolishly.
