So I actually had a similar conversation with a junior PhD student. His point was that he really hated Biden, but he hated Trump even MORE. This election is not about who supports their candidate more. Nobody cares about Joe Biden. Everyone’s attention is on Trump, whether they love him or they hate him. This election is about those who love Trump vs those who hate Trump.

But we should all remember that in the end,

Love > Hatred

To me it shows more about the psychology of people. When people have such strong beliefs, you can't just change them in one conversation. Attacking their beliefs and perspective of the world aggressively will only make them double down. That's why redpilling is a thing. It's a process that takes time.
