Like the message says, this applies to ALL hashtags, even non-political ones.

They must be terrified.

boxmakingmachines 24 points ago +24 / -0

Yeah, Andy Frisella posted about it today, IG wouldn't let him tag his lambo in a pic and gave him this same response.

They are absolutely terrified. They are willing to nuke their own platform to cover for China Joe.

My wife confirmed with a recent mermaidlife hashtag. It’s ALL.

sentient-potato 10 points ago +10 / -0

Yeah they're freezing all hashtags until post-election.

This is war.

Totally! For them to do something this desperate, they know they're losing badly.

United States government should really understand that either them shatter every one of these tech companies by whatever means necessary, or the government basically ceases to be anything but a very apparent puppet on the strings of big tech.

Because even if Trump wins this year, long term it won't be possible to maintain democracy or even cohesion in the country when corporate entities of such scope are able to freely take sides in elections.

Big Tech has more cash on hand than the US government. They are a national security threat.

glow-operator-2-0 5 points ago +5 / -0

They may have more on paper, but I doubt they have a better Weltanschauung or a hardier discipline, than us.

Big Tech is the US government. They glow more than the full moon on a clear night.

5
iamherefortheluls 5 points ago +5 / -0

can't dispute this with facts.

However this take is too black-pilled to me. Consider that if that was true, Trump wouldn't be president.

Clearly government is compromised, but its not irrevocable.

freewillsetstruth 13 points ago +13 / -0

Not sure how they're going to contend this is anything less than election interference. No matter. It's going to be a red wave and the tech companies will suffer the consequences!

9
seifermp 9 points ago +9 / -0

They're admitting they're doing it because of the election.

They state something like..."all recent hashtags will be hidden until after the election to avoid promoting possible false election info"

These are not the actions of people who believe Quid Pro Joe is up double digits.

5
Panda 5 points ago +5 / -0

At least they took down biden2020 also but probably not many people were using that

4
Dinglehopper 4 points ago +4 / -0

You are right. #biden has 447k, #Trump has 15.6 MILLION!

Twitter is based on hashtags. This is a ridiculous argument, one that opposes free speech. It also represents Twitter saying that Twitter when functioning as designed at its core is a harmful shithole. This is as ridiculous as saying that Twitter is a reliable source of news, or a neutral arbiter of opinion. Twitter when functioning correctly should be a medium for Americans to share our own opinions and facts, right or wrong. Relying on Twitter to sort out your thoughts for you, even if they were neutral, is just plain dumb.

Maybe the right answer here is for Twitter to stop taking itself so seriously and allow Americans to decide what's right. Part of that is learning to tell BS from good info, to ignore trolls and liars, and reject propaganda. Americans by and large DO know all of these things, and Twitter doesn't like the results. Twitter favors their own propagandized point of view, and when that fails to take hold, they must "mortify their own flesh" so to speak by blocking all hashtags on a platform made of hashtags. Twitter inadvertently reveals the fact that it is the actual problem by negating its own functionality as some sort of solution.

This is the origin of FBs attempt to "stifle election interference" as well. Marxist propaganda is called "Justice", and "Leave me TF alone" is called tyranny.

SOmething like that.

THIS IS FAKE NEWS they didn’t ban just trump2020.... they banned EVERY SINGLE HASHTAG ON THE SITE.

2
bipartisexual 2 points ago +2 / -0

Guess who is scared? Big tech! 🤣🤣

2
boreal_storm 2 points ago +2 / -0

In other words, they are banning all hash tags to reduce Trump's momentum.

2
TallGlassofMelonade 2 points ago +2 / -0

Perhaps a bit misleading. I get the same message for #biden2020.

2
magnokor 2 points ago +2 / -0

The Trump supporters are always happy and smiling.

The Biden supporters are always swearing, burning cities, angry, and often mutilate their bodies by sticking pieces of metal in their face or wrecking their skin with Chinese language tattoos.
