OK, looking at the numbers coming in, I'm beginning to think we are in danger of having a voter turnout of over 100%
ie, there are 152,666,000 registered voters in the US (according to here: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/number-of-registered-voters-by-state)
at current rate, there will be more votes cast than this... how does that work?
if you do the math, that site implies that there are only 249,159,403 people in the US, or are they referring to people over 18?
Interesting. Just for reference, 2016 pulled in roughly 128 million votes.
only a % of people registered actually vote and add to that there have been 4 years of people turning 18 since 2016 that is a estimated 16 million new voters. there were a total of 250,056,000 registered voters in 2016 but only 55.5% actually voted. This year though turnout is expected to be much greater some say 75% others say 80+% turnout with mail in, early, and in person voting given the stakes and the motivations on both sides.
