Nobody wants to say it, but I will: the boomers are so fucking self-absorbed that they'd rather destroy the world than risk even a slightly elevated chance of dying just a few years ahead of schedule. Previous generations would have understood that they shouldn't sacrifice the prosperity of their children's children in exchange for just a minor uptick in safety. Not the boomers, though. They're the masters of pissing away inheritances, and why wouldn't that include the societies they inhereted, too?
Meanwhile, the remnants of the greatest generation are rotting away in nursing homes, placed there by boomer children who don't give a shit - and then boomer politicians sent the virus straight into those same nursing homes, killing tens of thousands!

Is it really the boomers, though? I know I'm in a suburban/rural area of a mostly red state, but all our boomer parents hate this shit. We've had family gatherings, dinners, etc, at the same pace as prior. Only one boomer couple of the 10-12ish in my and my gf's families has isolated themselves or really taken any measures other than wearing masks where required by local businesses. The only people I've been chastised by are in their 20s. I'm mid-30s, fwiw
