as with the US, the popular vote does not matter. the ridings in Canada are regional, not based on population. look into it - my riding in Vancouver had something like 150K, but other ridings in Canada have as few as 25K - it is all based on regional representation, there is a formula for the number of seats in the Constitution and the requirements for agreement on changing that formula? fuggetaboutit. check it out. ;-)
