I come from a socialist hellhole (Denmark), and I can tell you, that in a way you should be very thankful that your socialist commies are somewhat dumber than ours (as hard as it is to grade stupidity at this level).

Your democrat party has gone so far off the rails that it is far easier to oppose.

In communist denmark, even though a rational person cannot consider the state anything but an uncontrollable freedom quenching monster, the average joe isnt subjected to stuff they percieve as to be anything too bad. It has gotten this way slowly, by sedating the population little by little. They are just smart enough to know that they cant impose crazy US-style lockdowns at once, or enact insane "green new deals", it comes in small bites, and it has worked.

It is also almost impossible here to gather enough support to make a difference politically, as we do not have a "winner take all" setup in our branches. Also our media, while fake news anywhere it counts, have not yet gone to the insane levels of fakeness of cnn/wapo/nytimes, so it is much harder to see. Our media is complicit, corrupt, and our entire establishment is rotten to the core.

We are now at a point where it is questionable if the medias would dare print the mohammed cartoons again, and a large amount of the population thinks it would be a bad idea to do so. Additionally probably around 90% of people think that mask mandates, even so far as forced vaccines would be a great thing. And indeed, they are now passing "epidemic laws" that would empower them to do that.

I would strongly urge anyone reading this to never ever give up even the slightest of things, for it will not be the last, and I garantuee you, a large swath of the population will happily go to a very very dark place, if they go there slowly.

I beg you, do not let it happen. And i feel 100% confident to say, that you would MUCH RATHER fight now, than afterwards.

well... its a weird kinda hybrid, in a way, we have less regulations than the US, but a giant fuckton of things are more or less just monopolized by the state, such as healthcare, daycare, pension, elder care. And the extreme taxes to some degree, depending on who you ask, dictate peoples "free choice" by simply removing many options due to financial reasons. In general, quality of life is very high in denmark, and nobody is poor in terms of being able to buy a 50" tv and the latest iphone, but we have given up insanely much freedom to get it. Basically if you are not an NPC that loves being nannied by the state, its a hell.

It is so bad that we actually have people begging the state to add huge taxes to candy bars and sodas, because they want to stop consuming it, but they dont have the self discipline to stop. So they want mother-government to force them. Im not even kidding, this is a real thing.

Another example is that our state just increased taxes on cigarettes again. In response to this, one cigarette maker decided to decrease prices of their products so that the retail price could remain the same. The local grocery store where I live (a town of 500 people), decided that this is meddling in the most important regulations the government is doing, so decided to discontinue sales of cigarettes made by that company.

How insane is this? its fucking sick, i mean, WTF?
