Voting is unusually heavy in Washington State, which has all mail-in/dropbox voting. (The state does not provide information on party affiliation of votes cast.)

In 2016 (4 days before the election): 41% of ballots had been returned

In 2020 (4 days before the election): 64.8% of ballots have been returned

I don't know what this means, but in 2016 visible support for Hillary was extremely high among Ds, and Rs were more than a bit unsure about Donald. Today, there is zero visible enthusiasm for Joe among Ds, and Donald's support among Rs is very high.

In the governor's race this year, support for Inslee seems lukewarm among Ds, and support for Culp is very high among Rs.

I don't think this heavy voting is covid-related because the state is all mail-in/dropbox voting.

If this heavy voting is among Ds, then it is because of strong TDS and not because of strong support for Joe. If this is heavy voting among Rs, then....whoa....

I'm in the middle of bluest of blue liberal land in King County, and I can tell you that there are a lot of angry people here...mostly directed at the governor. Lots of anger about businesses being closed and people losing their livelihoods...lots and lots of anger about schools being closed.

I live in tech central and just had a conversation yesterday with some Asian parents who do not understand why schools in China are open and schools here are closed and are very concerned that their kids are falling behind their Asian counterparts. (Apparently, Zoom-school is not too popular.)

There are more of us than you know. I used to not know a single Trump supporter besides myself. Now I know maybe 20-30. These are people who didn't vote for Trump in 2016. Many first time voters as well! We are in the heart of Seattle.
