The Second amendment is about trust. What does it say about our society that we do not trust each other with a firearm. A free society that trusts it's fellow man should not live in fear of gun violence. If you TRUST your neighbor, you don't worry about gun violence. Those who want to eliminate guns, don't TRUST their fellow man.

Absolutely. You need to be able to trust your actions and the actions of others. We also need to be able to respect ourselves. It's quite clear lefties don't respect themselves as well as others. But project onto us that we should automatically respect them without giving anyone the opportunity to earn the amount of respect to trust each other in confidence.
