Remember to keep safe people. Put a mask on that is not airtight, and creates a warm damp dark place directly in front of your respiratory tract.

I wear a mask in my car alone. While I sleep. All the damn time!

We have an old dude, 80-ish, who takes his daily walk outdoors, around our neighborhood, by himself, and wears a mask the whole time. It's so sad.

Gwoz8881 43 points ago +43 / -0

I see people, daily, wearing a mask driving alone. Or running on the trail alone wearing one. It truly is sad.

I made a smaller mask for my mask because my mask should have the same protection that I have.

Gotta make sure there’s good bacteria in front of yer mouth to keep out the COVID!

Yup, it's especially nice for CO2 and Oxygen loving bacteria to work together! They love it!

Archetypical "fact-check": Did masks kill people in the 1918 flu? No, it wasn't masks, it was bacteria!

19
sub-collector 19 points ago +25 / -6

In another article published by NIH on this subject, they claim the bacteria magically appeared because the flu virus killed these cells or the others and damaged bronchi. WUT?

27
d_lock 27 points ago +27 / -0

The Spanish flu caused a cytokine storm, which ended up suppressing the immune system enough to make people more susceptible to bacterial infection. Since there were no antibiotics at the time, this was a serious problem. Bacterial pneumonia just happens to be one of the deadlier infections, so most people died of that (After an opening was made by the flu).

One of the issues with bacteria is it's present all the time, which makes it hard to track where said bacteria came from.

“The examination of recut lung tissue sections from 1918–1919 influenza case material revealed, in virtually all cases, compelling histologic evidence of severe acute bacterial pneumonia“

Last time I checked, viruses are different than bacteria. Hmm

Mostlypeaceful45 47 points ago +49 / -2

The mask cause bacterial pneumonia. They do more harm than good

3
Duckyhs 3 points ago +3 / -0

The study shows no claim that it was masks but I can agree with the sentiment that breathing into a mask for hours in a dark damp spot can cause bacteria build up and breathing that in could potentially have its consequences.

40
testingonetwothree 40 points ago +40 / -0

any scientists able to explain why spanish flu (a virus) resulted in bacterial pneumonia while COVID (also a virus) results in viral pneumonia? Or does COVID cause bacterial AND viral pneumonia but we just have the antibiotics to destroy bacterial pneumonia now?

58
NYC_4_Trump 58 points ago +60 / -2

I believe they’re referencing the use of masks. The masks were probably a breeding ground for pneumonia.

It is likely that masks don’t work. So, you’re going to catch the Spanish flu. Once you get that, your mask is giving you pneumonia.

33
Plaquenil 33 points ago +33 / -0

Masks work at capturing bacteria, but not viruses, due to the huge difference in size. The wet mask becomes a breeding ground for the bacteria.

16
Brucesky420 16 points ago +18 / -2

Essentially it works like this, as the scientists have said a million times: Masks don't protect you from covid, they protect you from spreading covid.

So if it's protecting you from spreading it, where is the viral load going when you're wearing a mask? Right back in you. The viral load of the virus has a very substantial affect on how bad you react to it. Only get the bare minimum of what's needed? You'll most likely fight it off fairly quickly. But now with the mask, the virus is creating duplicates that you would normally blow most out your airways so it can infect others. But instead of it leaving your body, you're inhaling more of the virus, the virus is attaching itself to even more of your cells, and now your body has to fight off 20 times the amount of infected cells it needed to if you just let that shit exit your body

The reality is, the masks don't really protect you from spreading it either. Instead of 40% going airborne, 25% goes airborne (even more with the shitty cotton tshirt masks), but when indoors that 25% adds up quickly, so the air is full of the virus no matter what. but now instead of the virus leaving your body, you're sucking up more of the virus because of your mask.

Even more reality: We're probably already at herd immunity levels. The antibody tests suck donkey dick and they aren't reliable, but more than 40% of the population probably already got the virus. Meaning it's not nearly as deadly as people assume, even with the fake padded numbers

It's all a shame, it was political from day 1. They tried to ruin the economy, they did a good job. But luckily Trump caught on quickly and most of the republican states reopened and starting building the economy back up. It will still take awhile to recover, especially as long as New York and California continue to be cucked as those are a big portion of our economy, but we need to stop with the fear mongering and get back to fucking normal ASAP. We know enough about this virus now to know the fear mongering was a political move to try and hurt Trump. They didn't care how many Americans got hurt by the shutdown economy, they just cared about Trump looking bad from it.

Also: Fuck Abbott, he's a cuck

Your immune system gets bogged down fighting the virus, and then the bacteria takes advantage of the opportunity.

COVID

27
Pederrr 27 points ago +27 / -0

Probably breathing in mass amounts of bacteria that's collected on your face while you're immune system is working hard on something else

18
NYC_4_Trump 18 points ago +18 / -0

I believe this is the answer. Breathing in exhaled air for a prolonged period of time cannot possibly be healthy.

7
CALI_MAGA_MAMA 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yeah, rebreathing carbon dioxide starves your brain of oxygen. They're making you breathe in your whole "carbon footprint" and kill your brain cells.

10
Destineed369 10 points ago +10 / -0

I think it’s because your immune system is caught up fighting the virus so the bacteria sets in and ends up killing them.

But hey I’m just a chef lol

But highly prestigious people can't lie and be partisan though!!

Wow, cloth masks don't stop viruses, something we've known for years! A shocker I tell you! It's not like there was a plethora of medical journals and data about masks not working for influenza before COVID or anything!

Fatality rate for Covid 19 = ~0.03%

Any questions?

As somone who had covid19, I could have told you this. The part where people get shortness of breath is when the lungs are infected. you then either are strong enough to survive or not and die.
