I am not american but my simple logic tells me one thing. Just correct me if I'm wrong.
There are plenty of people who were thinking Trump was racist, etc. even by the time of inauguration. Lots of people got red pilled much later then 2016 election.
This means, Trump got the lowest vote he could get in 2016 and still won.
Some may argue that Hillary is much less likeable than Joe but even if it's true, that's nothing compared to the amount of people who realized that Trump is not a racist.
Even seeing the increasing support among minorities just proves that.
Are there really significant amount of people who disliked Hillary and didn't vote for her against Trump but will now vote for Joe against the same Trump???
Or, did Trump lose support among white people? Just because of covid? That doesn't sound realistic.
First thing to understand is Blue States
If you are outside of the US you may not have seen the total lock on the media the Democratic party has. When Trump began his campaign he went from being covered as a great guy to the Devil. It has not stopped, I live in Massachusetts, I can count on one hand the number of people who think Trump is a good guy. They are all male. Most here believe he is racist, hates women, is a thief, lies constantly and has done nothing. They blame him for the virus lockdowns as well. This is the end result of US media espec in a Democratic controlled state. They voted for Hillary, they will vote for Joe, in each case they believe the candidates are "good" and that Trump is "bad."
Now Red States
On the other hand, there are many primarily in Republician controlled states who see the virus and the lockdowns as a drive to seize power by Dems, see the riots, the looting, the police suppression as further indication of Dems deliberately destroying the economy of their states to destroy Trump's legitimate claim to having improved the national economy. Many people in both blue and red states saw their incomes improve, have been positively impacted by his many rulings, these groups are veterans, their families, factory and farm workers, working blacks, Hispanics who live in depressed areas that received Trump business incentives. Whites in these states see Trump as a positive influence and Joe as a corrupt, senile joke.
Thanks, it's been helpful.
I know that brain washing is strong but I guess it is even crazier than I thought, especially in the blue states.
But, keeping the swing states + Wisconsin would be enough and the things you've explained will help it a lot I suppose.
And the people who'll accuse Trump of "Floyd riots" are the people who'd vote for Biden anyway, while plenty of moderates would drift to Trump because of that. So, all in short, I guess those riots helped Trump as well.
The riots were planned, but had the opposite effect the Dems anticipated. The Dems plan was for Trump to fall into a trap; to declare a state of emergency and bring in troops to end the riots, this has been done a number of times by past presidents to deal with riots. But Trump didn't. So as the riots dragged on, and the states were blamed, not Trump.
They also thought Trump would be blamed, but he was very clear that if they wanted help they had to ask. They refused to ask, so more blame was laid on Dem governors, mayors.
Biden can fill a minivan.
...with trafficked kids.
Amazing, has any other candidate ever hit these numbers at rallies??
I think Trump 2016 crowds were no way this big and Joe's are even smaller than Hillary's in 2016.
Agree, and the numbers coming in of those who attend Trump rallies that have never voted must have the Dems in melt down.
Yep.

Yeah, I remember that. Trump exposed them badly. The governors looked so incompetent.
Butler, PA has a population of less than 13,000 as of this year's census.
Literally more people at that rally than the entire population... a few times over.
I was there, coming from a neighboring county of Beaver. I'm sure there were many from my county there as well.
I’d say he can’t fill a Miata.
The Polls might just be...... WRONG!
... and as our hero said, "I do it without a guitar".
I grew up north of Butler. I didn't even think there were 57K living there! This is amazing.,
