Thanks- I really like this pic from the hunt ,l took it just as a parting thought after years of spending time setting up bulky gear to get shots for magazines etc ,this was just a little pocket camera l have had for years that should have been frozen solid by rights .

I am going to get it made as a print for the wife for Xmas as a memory of the hunt, since she did a great job on the hunt taking a perfect stalk/shot in difficult conditions & had to use my 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum (SAUM) rifle as the plane she flew in on was maxed out, luckily l have a temp cheek piece for it l use with clients

I like this one too all loaded up for a 6 hour Horse Back trek back out to make sure we got home in time to vote & help some of the elderly & infirm from our community with transport so the could vote in person.

You're living the dream brother. The wife and I had at least half dozen big bulls bugling within 150 yards around us all night a couple weeks ago. Being from Texas it was a first for her and at pretty surreal experience. Got a good look at a couple of the beasts the next day. Everything is on draw down here and bow only so I'm gonna cross my fingers and practice up stick hunitng lol. Lots of game down here and I love getting out any chance I get. Quail season has been good and the wife is really into it. I'll have to throw out a pic of her pink mossberg 20g next week. I noticed your last post in front of the cabin. Thanks a lot for sharing. Really makes me miss the North country.

Yeh l have a soft spot for the 7mm, over all my years guiding hunters around the world the one cartridge l wished more chose is the 7/08 like the 243 it performs way above most others in the same circle just in a larger game capability , with minimal kick & great in built accuracy potential.

I have gotten to use a lot of different calibers in the field guiding over the years on different game/conditions all around the word , the 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum (SAUM) is one of my favorites & a proven awesome hunting round, perfectly matched to rifles built to take on extended hiking to reach the game & the Rem model 7 is the perfect platform to build it on.

Here is my Custom 7mm Rem Mag Carbon Custom Long Range Hunting Rifle Based on a Remington 700,l built with my uncle to my own specs from the ground up .This is my version of the perfect 7mm Rem Mag for Long Range hunting.

And a picture of a target l shot at my range on my Ranch, with it to make sure it was dialed in for Hunting Season ,after its last hunt saw us flying out of Alaska in a Float plane loaded to the max & the poor old girl had to do the flight strapped under the wings.

First shot left as the sighter, then 5 shots dialed in at a lazed 96 yards with a gusting cross wind to 13mph ,this gun shoots my 185grn hunting Hand Loads doing 3050ps into !/2 MOA.All in a rile that weighs under 8lbs loaded & has less felt kick than a 6.5 Creedmor my buddy has in the same weight & we both shot side by side at my range.

FEW DETAILS & PICS OF THE GUN USED & ON THE HUNT ITSELF & THE NICE TROPHY HEAD THE WIFE CAN ADD TO HER PART OF THE TROPHY WALL AT OUR RANCH -

The Wife joined me on a 3 day Horse Back Hunt ,we ended up in a Snow Storm & she still managed to get a nice Bull after a difficult stalk .

We have a guiding business l operate around the world as a sideline to our Ranch, which is situated in some of the best Hunting grounds in the US.I have always been hopeless & love hunting that much l even do it on my off time as much as l can.Had just seen the last set of clients off after a successful hunt & with the weather coming in knew a few likely spots that produce when the first real snow hits.Wife has been keen to get her first Elk hunt for the year in & missed the horses ,so in between hunts rather than me flying home , got a buddy to fly her in & we did a 3 1/2 Day Horse Back hunt living off the land.

Loaded up for the long ride out -

We are Ranchers & Professional Hunters,so look after all our animals as we not only care for them but depend on them every day ,my wife also runs her own business as a Horse Breeder & Riding instructor,so horses are better looked after than most & love it,they get excited when l start packing for another guided hunt with them.

Patch, the Black & White Horse my wife is holding follows me every where, even when l am rounding up cattle on our stock horses & stands over me while l sleep, when we are on extended remote Horse Back hunts & sleep/camp in the open on rolls & l have to warn clients not to come near us while she guards me.In the stables at home if my wife is standing next to me Patch comes & puts it's dopey head between us .

The wife is always a great hunting buddy & complains less than most male clients ,the only trouble she gave was keeping on cracking mum jokes about how much Hunter would love it surrounded by white stuff & riding anything that moved & how old man crazy Joe Biden would approve of our cabin with no power & only horses to get around on,his ideal vision for America .

In the end after a hard hunt in the conditions l got her onto a couple of nice bulls & she pulled off a good stalk & shoot using the custom 7 SAUM ( 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum ) Rem Model 7 l built .The wife could not bring her own rifle as the plane she hitched a ride in was maxed out with supplies so she used my Guide gun and did a great job puing off a difficult shot t drop the Bull Elk on the spot.

I hit these Hunting grounds as l was watching the cold blast moving in & knew from years of hunting the area where the Elk liked to forage/shelter once it hit,we just got more of a blast than they tipped.

I am really happy with the general herds quality over the last few seasons ,l said in a earlier post ,IMO hunters should be looking at putting in as many hours as they can in the field ,as some quality animals will be taken over the next few seasons

Casper her favorite pack horse got the honors of carrying the nice head out,-

My Custom Rem Model 7 's l use for a lot of my guiding,my uncle & l built them all in his work shop to my specs -

The 7SAUM ( 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum ) is the bottom rifle & is shown set up with cheek piece l use for when my wife/small client uses it, as she has not got a fat head like me.I have always had a soft spot for the model 7 just about the perfect weight/balance for a hard carry hunting rifle IMO & l have used them to hunt all around the world. The 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum is a great hunting round as well.
