Yeah the law itself is helpful, but not enough to actually change much until a large swath of them that have been there for years are fired. I say this as someone who works in the public sector, and I know for a fact that my education (a cv that sports the title of a local ivy league) is the biggest reason I got hired - or at least got a call back for an interview. Everyone that works there has a similar background, or knows someone, etc.

I'm fortunate enough to actually do meaningful work, and have coworkers that remain politically neutral, but that wasn't always the case. I used to work directly for the state senate (not as an elected official or anything), and holy crap I legit did nothing 90% of the day, and everything was an absolute joke
