Production ended years ago. The tooling and fixtures destroyed. Lockheed testified to congress that the program could not be reconstituted. The USAF has just over 200 of them and will have to begin cannibalizing the fleet for parts in the coming years.
Now sell them to the UK and Australia, probably Japan too.
Canada, would sell them to Canada, but they don't have a military budget these days.
US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper told Israeli officials during a visit to Israel this week that the Trump administration has approved selling F-22 stealth fighters to the Jewish state, according to a Friday report in a Saudi-owned newspaper.
US President Donald Trump okayed the sale of the F-22 Raptor and precision-guided bombs to Israel, the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported, citing senior sources in Tel Aviv.
Such a sale would first require the US Congress to overturn a current law barring Washington from exporting the advanced fighter jets. The House of Representatives passed the law in 1998 over concerns that the nigh-unparalleled stealth technology in the F-22 could fall into the hands of Russia or China if the aircraft were sold abroad, including to Israel.
Very true about Canada, they are having trouble equipping anything. Also, they have different needs then most countries, as their roles are very interceptor heavy, but need to be more rugged in icing conditions than most.
Can you post the full article. Like Harken said, there's an export ban on f-22's, and we don't even manufacture them anymore. Japan offered to pay to spin back up production, but the processors and other equipment are so out of date the architecture would have to be completely redone.
I also saw rumors Japan may be getting the F-23 Black Widow or a newer version of it. Are we arming up all our key regional allies? Arms sales to Taiwan, UAE, SA and others.
Heavy arms production and sales was one of the things that Reagam used to collapse the USSR, wonder if such a buildup could cause the same thing to China?
Why tf are we selling our 5th gen fighter to Israel so they can sell the tech to China?
Because we have 7th generation already built. 😂😂😂
Israel is not trustworthy. They can have f35s like everyone else or fuck off.
There's an export ban on the F-22. When was this overturned?
HOW?

Isn't this the first Country to get the F22?
Interesting.
