The people who need semi automatic weapons like farmers got to keep them with special pest control licences. We always had a strict license and registration process for firearms.
Also it didn't change alot for shooters. You can still have a semi automatic pistol and if you compete a few times a year you can have high capacity magazines as well.
Our gun laws are totally cucked compared to our American counterparts but the reality is, if someone want to commit a mass shooting a 30-30 lever action with some practice can put pills down range almost as fast as an ar-15 if not just as fast in the hands of an expert shooter. Not that speed even means anything when your shooting indiscriminately into a crowd.
Our society is very different to the US. Taking our guns didn't reduce the likelihood of mass shooting because the likelihood was always very low.
