I've always been puzzled because Mexicans that I know, hell hispanics in general, are strongly religious, have big families that they care deeply for, are macho as fuck, hate paying taxes and work their asses off. That's MAGA baby.

We are finally seeing that card stop working because democrats are racist as all hell and we can point to instances of it.
The true redpill is the realization that democrats do not want racism to disappear because it's the only way they can get votes. Thomas Sowell put it best (paraphrasing): racism is not dead in this country, but it's kept on life support by democrats.
Purely anecdotal, but I was in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas late this summer and I can tell you I saw TONS of Trump signs. Not a lot of biden signs in sight.
Well, I mean, for decades they've seen two sides. One side has screamed "THEIR SIDE ARE ALL RACISTS!!!!" The other side has been trying to "act presidential." They shrugged and went "Welp, at least this group of old white guys who occasionally is in charge will talk to us. The other guys must be racist."
And then suddenly Donald Trump comes along and he starts saying things like "I LOVE our Legal Immigrants! I love their families, I love their work ethic, I love their values, I love everything about them!" And the other side? Still saying the same shit they've been saying for 70 years, but not doing anything to help. So why NOT try the guy who gushes about how much he loves you and wants to help everyone? Could it be possibly worse than the guys who have always claimed to be your friends, but never done anything to actually help you take care of your kids?
Hispanics in Texas vote pretty much in line with the rest of the residents of the state - moderate republican. In California though they are one enormous democratic bloc. I have no idea how the republican party can reach California hispanics, but they will be the answer to ever turning the state red again.

I think it is more about economics than race. Mexicans are some of the most recent immigrants to America, and so many of them are poor. Democrats tell the poor that they will give them free things.
Look at what happened historically with white immigrants. Irish immigrants 100-150 years ago were largely poor, and they were democrat after they came here. Now their descendants comprise the white working class base that got Trump elected.
What we need to do is END illegal immigration. Cut off the big Republican corporations from their underclass of slave labor that depresses wages, and cut off the Democrats from their endless sea of new voters. Trump is doing what is right for America. A successful America becomes a Republican America.

I think it's like you said- assimilation. Democrats took over California by way of labor unions (fun fact: Hollywood is VERY strongly unionized) and Texas rejected unions, and that's why Hispanics, being the moderates they are, vote with the majority of the state they're in.
Information flow, largely because of the Internet and Republicans utilizing it infinitely better in the last couple years as a means of messaging has reached them. Also, legal immigrants are tired of the hit and runs, rapes, costs and all the assorted problems illegals bring.
I predict that a shocking number of Hispanics in every state are going to vote straight Republican.
Friend recently showed me the youtube comments on telemundo youtube. Don't need to speak spanish to tell that they are based as fuck, calling out telemundo and the rest of the media as fake news.
