His new 10pm curfew for the entire state is making many people, especially those in the restaurant business (who have to close now at 9:30) furious.
It's crazy that a republican governor is too authoritarian for liberal voting base, but that is kind of where we are.
Massachusetts is liberal liberal up to a point. In the 1960's forced busing led to riots. In Boston.
Locally it's Purple. Liberal as far as what you want to smoke in your own home or who you marry or sleep with as long as it's a consenting adult. As a politician, don't put your hands in someone's wallet, or your politicial fingers come out bloody stumps.
The 9:30pm business closing is putting your fingers in someone's pocket.
The 10pm curfew is a "stay-at-home-advisory" Charlie probably does not actually have the power to force people to stay home, but he can screw over businesses. Since they are fixed locations, the government can reach out and touch someone. In a bad way. Like a Biden.
Religious and political gatherings are exempted so services start at 9:30pm at the local "Church of the Hop and Barley", followed by a campaign fund raiser to run against Charlie Baker.
MA did vote for Reagan in 1980 and 1984 and Scott Brown in 2010.
In 2016 there's a lot of red that can spread: http://rynerohla.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/16-MA-Inverted.png
There is hope for a red Massachusetts, if only for a day.
