This happened to me last election in Philly. I told them I didn’t need their crap because I’d never vote Democrat. They were confused, or tried to confuse me, and said “but these are the only candidates on the ballot”. Same exact sheet of paper (obviously 2016 candidates being the difference )
Northerners aren’t bad but I found most white people from the North aren’t used to being around black people. We all grew up together down here and get along just fine. They seem like they have to overcompensate for some internalized bias.
It’s overall a good place to live. Good public schools and generally safe.
I grew up in SC and we all grew up together too. There’s a misconception that we’re all just a bunch of racist hicks but that’s not been my experience at all.

Sorry, but I had to report my polling station in Perry County, PA. They were handing out the exact same thing in philly, but the reverse. Only showing straight republican. The woman handing out the flyers even said "you can use that to help you fill out your ballot... like a cheat sheet!".

When I voted in MD in 2016, both my voting booth and my fiancée's booth had Democrat voting guide pamphlets in them.
