Had a guy that played with me a long time ago time me on the rythm of "master" a long time a go, to see if i coulf play at that speed for the length of the song........ i was drunk, but kept at it, was only supposed to go like 7 or 8 minutes. Dude let me keep going for 12 or 13. Bastard. Kek
Yeah. When i started out, the first song i learned all the parts to was boston morethan a feeling. Then dove heavily into tallica, hardest song i learned was by far creeping death. Never did quite master it though. Doubt i could even remember it now. The downpicking at speed isnt the hard part. The hard part is the string accuracy mixed with muting various strings with either my right palm, or my loose left fingers. Thats a bitch to be sure. Still working my way back to speed too, though.
Not as fast or accurate anymore. Trying to work back to it though. Put it down for a couple years. Also diving into more technique, and improv. Really trying to get a Gilmore feel. Hoping my kids pick up an instrument and love for music too.
I just pick up a guitar every once in a while to chug a few out for 30 minutes. If you're stressed or anxious or need to blow of some steam, it's so fun.
Also been working on some recordings, with some conservative themed lyrics. Recording is a beast though, it's a slow process.
Slower than i ever realised when i started. Yeah ive been messing with some phone apps just to get stuff recorded. Wish they there was one i could hook up a mic for to do properly. Cant afford a computer yet.

Dyer's Eve is alternate picked. But yes, his picking is legendary.
Check out Iced Earth if you have a down picking/rhythm guitar fetish.
Then you have one of the best right hands in history, my friend.
Yay-uh!
