This can happen if the voter has issues reading the ballot or operating the machine.

My Mother helped my Father vote once; they had voted absentee for years but shortly before my Father died, he decided to vote in person.

It had been so long since he had voted at the polls he needed my Mother to help him navigate the electronic balloting.

All sorts of fuckery going on in PA but we expected it. It won't matter. As the Dems contest PA, Trump will have exceded 270 from other states.

Ok as a Philly 'pede who just got back from voting, we have new voting machines as of I think 2018 or so that are electronic with paper backups (it looks like the empty sheets of paper that go into the machine are what she's holding). But they have election workers who show you how to vote and setup the machine for each voter as you come in.

What they do is set you up when you first get there and tell you how to set up the machine, then leave. It just consists of "here put your paper ballot here, press English, press this button" and then your ballot shows up and they leave. On the right side where she's standing is where they stand to show you how to do it and then they leave when the ballot shows up.

And as someone else mentioned, if you have an issue they are there if you need help, you can ask for them to come over.

Husband and wife can normally vote together.
