My hubby is registered as an Independent. It’s a whole thing with him. He likes not being affiliated because his concerns don’t typically align with either party’s major platform issues.
I’ve tried to explain that politics is normally a team sport, but he thinks it’s more ethical to vote for the individual. I respect that, but the party system, especially on the Democrat side, exists in order to get those bloc votes. Even the pro-life Democrat reps have either been squeezed out of the party or forced to vote for abortion.
This year, he voted straight R, except for the president. He voted third party there. I don’t always understand it, but at least he didn’t vote for Biden and it’s not worth our relationship, you know?
Trump is the first actual third party candidate we’ve had since Ross Perot. I think a LOT more people would support him if his accomplishments and policies were fairly reported on.
