Someone please fill me on how this works. On https://results.decisiondeskhq.com/ it's reported that Donald Trump won Alabama, yet it shows Trump with less than 50% of the votes. How is it declared that a state is "won?"
It's based on statistics. They use historical voting trends, and calculate a probability based on that. For example, if the 50% remaining votes are all coming from deep red counties, and Trump is in the lead, then Trump will win.
