Marriage is very serious business to Mormons. The fact that Trump was a womanizer and has been divorced twice was something a lot of them had a hard time looking past.
I was raised Mormon, but I haven't been to church for years. But I still have a lot of friends and family who are active Mormon. Most of them have become pro-Trump in the last 4 years.
I am a church member and the crude language bothered lots too. Now I know a bunch who are voting for him even though the still don't like him because of policy and 3 supreme court justices.
The language doesn't bother me, I find it hilarious, but I worked a blue collar job in the east when I was young and they all talked like Trump. It is a culture clash issue. My husband, who grew up in Idaho/Utah told me he had never heard anyone talk like Trump when the pussy grab tape came out. Of course as he is my husband he found it funny and knew it was also true.
Maybe that's a Utah Mormon thing. If that was a big deal to Mormons in AL, we didn't seem to care enough about it to consider the alternative. Granted AL isn't exactly chock full of us.
I'm usually skeptical about the sanctity of the marriages of the rich and famous anyway, so it came as no surprise that Trump wouldn't have met the church's standards in that regard. Biden ain't exactly a model citizen on that end either.
Grew up in Alabama and am living in Utah now. You are correct in your thoughts about the "Utah Mormon thing." They tend to be a little sensitive here. Bless their hearts.

The language doesn't bother me as much. Gotta look at the content of the message moreso than the verbiage used to convey said message.

Far as I'm concerned, he was right on the nose. Lots of people take that quote waaaaaay out of context anyway.
Also lots of quiet closet Trump supporters at church and you would never guess which ones, aside from they all run businesses
