My stab in the dark is that they hope by being friendlier to the Dems on this one, they can get a bunch of Dems to bail from CNN and MSNBC to them. After CNN and MSNBCs magical blue wave didn't happen, their viewers are disenfranchised.

This was inevitable. They had all the right wing audience, the only audience they can eat is the left, so they will go farther left until a right wing network shows up.
